Matthew Russ hit a game-tying free throw at the end of regulation and Caleb Roberson’s basket put McGill-Toolen ahead for good in the extra period on the way to a 60-57 victory over Spanish Fort.

The Yellow Jackets, the defending Class 7A champions, improved to 4-1 with the Thursday night win. The Toros fell to 2-1.

Matthew McNeece led McGill with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Roberson finished with 11 points. KJ Holt and Chris Al Suggs each scored 10. Manny Patrick hit one of two free throws with 25 seconds remaining to end the scoring and clinch the victory.
