Warren Karsgaard

Thursday, February 14,

I am very saddened to inform everyone that Warren Karsgaard passed away this morning in Richmond.  Warren had fought a very determined battle with cancer for the past 2 ½ years and greatly appreciated the number of baseball friends who had visited him in the past few weeks.

Warren was a founder of the LMBA and was important in getting the group established and working within the baseball community – his input and efforts as a player, manager, and LMBA Executive member contributed importantly in our growth and development.  Warren was recognized in 2014 with the LMBA’s Special Recognition Award.  Warren was also involved in Richmond Minor Baseball for over 40 years and his efforts were recognized by Richmond Minor Baseball, the City of Richmond, and BC Minor Baseball.

2019 is the LMBA’s 25th Anniversary Season and Warren was always amazed at how much the LMBA had become a viable member of the local baseball community – we will be dedicating our season in his memory.

Warren’s family will be contacting us with details regarding  a service/memorial and we will forward that information to everyone.

From Richmond City Baseball

It is with sadness that RCBA wishes to  inform our membership of the passing of Warren Karsgaard this past week in Richmond.

Warren had fought a very determined battle with cancer for the past 2 ½ years and greatly appreciated the number of baseball friends who had visited him in the past few weeks.

In 2012,  at the Richmond Sports Council Awards Celebration, Warren, LMBA co-founder and Monarch’s first baseman,  was recognized with a special award for his long-time service to Richmond Baseball – coaching, Executive service, and field maintenance.

In 2014, Warren was the recipient of the “Roll of Honour” award by BC Baseball in the Builder category. This award was based on Warren’s 40+ years of commitment to youth baseball in Richmond and the adult LMBA league which he was a founder, player and manager. Warren spent many years up until 2011 as an RCBA Board member bringing his many years and wealth of knowledge to the boardroom.

This year, 2019, is the LMBA’s 25th Anniversary Season and they are dedicating the season in his memory.

Warren will be sadly missed.

Arizona 2009 - The LMBA/Hounds/Legends and one Cub (over 30 Division teams) pulled off the unthinkable in Phoenix. After finishing 8th in the round - robin out of ten and only the top 8 move on to the playoff round. That's right - three straight wins and some clutch hitting and great pitching , nine 9-inning games in six days and the BC boys pulled it off with an extra inning win in the Finals. What a great experience. This is big day for the LMBA. - Chad Miller -
