Queens Park Stadium Renovated for LMBA Playoffs

                                                                         Queen’s Park Renovations

For the third consecutive year Queen’s Park Stadium in New Westminster will be featuring LMBA baseball at its best in the month of August.  In preparation for these games, the City of New Westminster has completed a major renovation of the diamond.  The sand-based mound and home plate areas have been converted to clay-based features.  The infield grass has been trimmed and considerable mix has been added to the skin areas – the mix is the same mix used at Nat Bailey.  Thanks to Ron Suffron and Paul Harris (New Westminster Twins) who worked with NW Parks staff to upgrade the diamond.

The New Westminster Twins are official hosts for our three weekends in August – preliminary playoff games in the LMBA’s 18+ and 30+ Divisions and a few league games in the 30+ and 45+ Divisions will be played on Saturday, August 11 and Sunday, August 12.

The weekends of August 18/19 and August 25/26 will feature a beer garden and a limited concession run by the players and friends of the Twins with all proceeds going to support New Westminster Minor Baseball.  Play on the diamond (August 18/19) will feature 8 playoff games featuring the top 16 teams in the LMBA’s 18+ Divisions.

Some outstanding baseball will be on display on the weekend of August 25/26 as both 18+ divisions will be in semi-final action and they will be joined by the top four teams in the LMBA’s 30+ Division semi-finals.

Queen’s Park Stadium will be a great spectator venue for our teams, players, and supporters – everyone is invited and please thank the Twins for their hard work while supporting their fundraising beer garden/concession.

Arizona 2009 - The LMBA/Hounds/Legends and one Cub (over 30 Division teams) pulled off the unthinkable in Phoenix. After finishing 8th in the round - robin out of ten and only the top 8 move on to the playoff round. That's right - three straight wins and some clutch hitting and great pitching , nine 9-inning games in six days and the BC boys pulled it off with an extra inning win in the Finals. What a great experience. This is big day for the LMBA. - Chad Miller -
