Orioles JV Continues Roller Coaster Season
After the loss to WC, the Lennox JV began a run of games that started with the JV game in Garretson. Lennox’s bats struggled to work right away and it was too late for Lennox to get much going. Lennox fell 7-1 to Garretson and they fell to 1 win, 4 losses and 1 tie.
Then the Lennox JV traveled to Dakota Valley on Saturday April 23rd for the Dakota Valley Junior Varsity Classic. Lennox faced off against Parkston’s JV in the first game and a huge first inning powered the Orioles to a win. In the first, a two RBI single from Jacob Ziegler and a two RBI single from Cooper Benning led to the Oriole JV to score six runs in the first. Sophomore Josh VanHouten pitched excellently as he worked through 4 innings and allowed only 1 run and 1 hit while striking out 4. The Orioles got Masen Lottman to score in the 4th to make it 7-1. However, Parkston found their stride as they scored 2 in the 5th, two in the 6th and one in the 7th to make it 7-6 Lennox. However, a ground out to short and a groundout to Tyson Stoebner, who was the new pitcher, ended the game and Lennox’s JV won 7-6.
In the championship, Lennox’s JV started Blayne Wallenstein on the hill and Dakota Valley started one of their varsity pitchers. Dakota Valley hit well and had a big help from the umpire in the third which led to DV scoring 8 in the 3rd. That made the score 13 to 0 which is what the final score was.
Following that loss, Lennox went to Salem and got an excellent all-around performance from Quincy Ihnen who had a two RBI double and pitched four innings. Kirchner would pitch the last inning and Lennox’s JV went on to win 7 to 2. The Oriole JV also defeated Canton last Friday and their current record is 4-5-1 or 4 wins, five losses and one tie.
The Oriole JV will play after the varsity on Wednesday in Lennox vs Tri-Valley and then on Thursday in Lennox vs Garretson. So come on out and watch some good Junior Varsity baseball.
Thanks for reading, have a nice day and GOOOOOO Orioles!
