Orioles JV Rip the Ball all over in Last Inning Comeback Win

The Orioles were Varsity had just found what it was to lose by errors and get no hit, however the JV team was ready to win coming off a disappointing loss to West Central’s JV team. The JV pitched Ray Williams (Eighth Grader) who was coming off his last appearance in a win over Canton four to one.

In the top of the first inning, Williams gave up a walk but got a strikeout and two fly outs. However, an error on which a player threw the ball and it went out of play gave Dakota Valley a run and a one to zero lead. In the bottom of the first, Williams walked and Quincy Ihnenn singled to left. Anderson struck out, Matt Wolf grounded out and Zach Ford struck out to end the Orioles threat. In Dakota Valley’s half of the second, they earned two walks and a single to bring in two runs and make it three to zero. In the bottom of the second, a single from Marcus Metivier would end up scoring zero due to a fly out and two strikeouts. In the top of the third, three singles and a walk brought in two runs for Dakota Valley. It was now five to zero and Lennox was coming to bat in the bottom of the third. William’s walk, Ihnenn’s single, Anderson’s walk, Matt Wolf reaching on an error and a passed ball led to Lennox scoring two runs and making it five to two Dakota Valley after three innings.

In the top of the fourth, Cole Fetrel (Sophomore) made an appearance on the pitching mound and he would give up two walks plus an error. With the bases loaded a fly out to Anderson in center led to a throw out at the plate. Then a single to left led to Jacob Ziegler throwing out a runner trying to score and Dakota Valley scored zero. In the home half of the fourth, two ground outs and a strikeout put Lennox down in order. In the top of the fifth, a walk and a single scored another one for Dakota Valley and with a six to two lead looked like they had sealed a win. The Orioles started with a fly out from JD Kirchner and then got two walks from Cole Fetrel and Tyler Zebell. Ray Williams would follow with a single to score Fetrel and make it six to three. Quincy Ihnenn would ground out to short and advance Zebell to third and Williams to second. Eighth grader Brock Anderson came up and hit a single to center to score two runs and make it six to five Dakota Valley. Matt Wolf (Sophomore) came up and hit a double down the right field line to move Brock Anderson to third and Matt to second. Zach Ford would come up and after falling to and 0-2 count, he would work a walk and load the bases for Jacob Ziegler (Sophomore). Ziegler came up looking to win the game and he would need a hit to win. Ziegler was due as he was looking for his first hit of the season and he delivered and then some. With the count 1-1, Ziegler hit a deep fly ball to right that hit the fence off a bounce and scored Anderson and Wolf easily and Lennox won seven to six thanks to the great comeback.

Lennox JV had proved they had what it took to battle against a good pitcher and in the end, they out hit Dakota Valley seven to five and only had two errors. The Orioles scored five runs to come back and win the game.
