Late rally not enough…Hector falls to Fairfax

Hector fell behind to Fairfax early on Monday night, only to have their late innings rally to fall short.
The game got off to a frantic pace, with ten combined runs scored in the first two innings.
Fairfax led off the game by scoring a run in the first when a run scored on a fielder’s choice. Hector answered back with two runs in the bottom of the first, capitalizing on a walk, a hit and an error. In the second, Fairfax scored five runs off of two walks and three hits. Hector scored twice in the second, off of two hits. The pitching for both clubs settled down in the third and fourth innings. Hector scored one in the fourth. In the 5th, Fairfax took advantage of walks and hit batters to score 3 runs, and they added another run in the 6th after a double and a Hector error.
Hector rallied late…starting with a hit by Tyler Pagenkopf, followed by walks by Kyle Kubesh and Austin Ludouese. Taylor Broderious singled in two runs. Ben Maiers walked to load the bases again. But the rally fell short when a pop up ended the game. Fairfax won 10-8. On the mound, Mason Clark got tagged with the loss, pitching two innings. Tate Lange pitched the final five innings.
At the plate…Ben Maiers went 3-3 with 3 RBI’s, Austin Ludouese went 2-3 with an RBI, Taylor Broderious went 1-3 with 2 RBI’s, Tyler Pagenkopf went 1-2, and Josh Swanson went 1-4. For complete game stats:
With the loss, Hector’s record is 2-1. The Hector Legion team travels to Eden Valley on Thursday to take on Eden Valley-Watkins at 6:30 PM.
