Upcoming Game Canceled
The Hollanders were looking at opening their 2019 season against St. Patrick tomorrow night (May 1), but the weather just didn't want to cooperate. The game will be postponed and made up later in May or possibly in June. With the cancellation of Wednesday night's game, the new season opener will be a rematch of 2018's pre-regional playoff series against the St Boni Saints this Sunday afternoon (May 5). Game time is set at 2:00pm at Cologne's Fritz Field.
2019 (Brief) Season Preview
After last year's disappointing two-and-barbeque outing during the regional playoff tournament, the Hollanders are looking to correct the wrongs that seemed to plague the team during the entirety of the 2018 season. The young Hollander team is now another year older and (hopefully) another year wiser. 2019 has already gotten off to a great start as Kyle Brazil, Tanner Luebke, and Casey Clemensen have all been selected to represent the Hollanders as CRVL All-Stars. The selected team will take on the St Paul Saints in an exhibition game held May 11th at Green Isle. These three players have proven to be major assets to the Hollander roster are all extremely deserving of the honor. The Gustavus Guys, Carter Clemensen and Cole Pengilly, have been playing all spring and are expected to return to the Cologne lineup in tip-top shape. Wild-style Zack Nelson will be returning to lead the Hollander rotation. After a career high 0.354 batting average in 2018, long-time veteran Brandon Fritz will be showing his familiar, friendly face in right-field. Joey Lilya, Jon Kummer, and Austin Pysick are three guys the Hollanders are looking at to make big strides this upcoming season. The guy calling the game behind the dish will be Mr Calm Tim Swanson. In a nutshell, the Hollander roster won't see much change in the upcoming season. This season will be a great year to watch as the boys of the previous Hollander teams have now turned into the team leaders. Every player loves to play infront of our very supporting Cologne community. Please come out to the ballpark this summer and enjoy a night out with great Shack food, fun Fritz Field, and hopefully a great ballgame that ends with a Hollander W. See y'all at the park.
