Host teams wins!
Posted July 2, 2019

Over the July long weekend the Chuckers College Prep team hosted their first Canada Day Tournament at Latrace Field in Richmond. There was a mix of 18U AAA and College Prep teams.
It was eventful first game with 2 players and 1 coach from the opposing team being ejected, but things settled down quickly and it turned out to be a successful weekend overall.
The Richmond Chuckers AAA team ended the round robin play with 1-2-1 and the College Prep team with a 2-1-1 record. With help from a Chuckers AAA 2-2 tie and a VI Mariners 6-1 win over the North Shore Padres, Chuckers College Prep avoided a tie breaker situation (and a lot of math) and advanced to the final.
With a combination of a strong performance on the mound by senior Duke Howells (7IP, CGSO, 3H, 1BB, 1HB) and solid defense all around, the host team took home a 3-0W on 5 hits from Nathan Hikida(2H, 1RBI), Jenmark Ramos(2H, 2RBI) and Tyler Sharples(1H) over the undefeated Cloverdale Nationals who went 4-0 in Round Robin play.
Congratulations!
