Supers Fall to O's
Posted June 14, 2017
On Sunday June 11 the Supers travelled to Yorkton to take on the Orioles. The Supers erupted for three runs in the top of the third inning to take an early lead, but the Orioles replied with three of their own in the bottom half to tie it up. Unfortunately the Supers could not push another run across the rest of the game, and in the bottom of the seventh the Orioles hit a walkoff single to win 4-3.
The Supers had a promising top of the first as they loaded the bases with none out. Unfortunately a double play and the third out of the inning prevented any runs from scoring. Other than the three runs scored in the third the offence was snakebitten by Orioles pitchers Darren Wandy and Greg Pelechaty.
The Supers had eight hits on the evening. Two singles and an rbi from surprise Parkland Expos call up Colby Ross who was asked to play minutes before the start of the game as there was a player shortage. Terry Cumming also had two singles, while Brogan Legebokoff, Kholton Shewchuk, Colby Parachoniak and Logan Parachoniak each had one hit.
Adam Korb started on the mound and tossed four innings, allowing three runs on a home run from part time Super and full time Oriole Tom Cook. Korb allowed six hits, three strikeouts and did not walk anyone. Colby Parachoniak came in relief, pitching two innings while giving up one run on two hits with an impressive four strikeouts while taking the loss.
The loss put the Supers record at 6 wins, 3 losses and 2 ties
