Salvage a Split

Posted June 10, 2019

Great weather allowed the ballpark and the grounds crew the time to dry out in time to get Sunday afternoons double-dip Vs the Twins in, negating another sunny rainout.  We ran Regan out for the start in game 1 and he was solid for 4, throwing strikes, which was a welcome change...but was undone by an error and one big knock.  Kern made his yearly appearance and closed it out, looking great in the process.  Defence was decent enough, but as is usual we came out on the wrong end of a one-run game losing 5-4.

Game 2 was an all-staff performance, and all three guys (Havers, Luis and Jayde) threw well...but were undone by 6 fielding errors (and some walks), leading to many unearned runs which saw us down 10-7 heading into the bottom of the 7th.  Gotta give it to the boys, they gutted it out and put up 4 in the bottom half, grabbing a massive W and leaving a good taste in everyones mouth.  Regan, Campo, Danny, Mitch, Parker and Bades all had multi-hit games, and the boys swiped 7 bags, which was a nice change.  Kaz and Muge moved runners over in clutch situations and we got the big knocks when we needed them.  We still have to find a way to make plays in the field, which will help the boys on the bump hand out fewer free passes, but it's progress!
