Dbacks Sweep Gunz in Round 1

The first round of the 2015 FMBA playoffs saw your Calgary Diamondbacks face off agains the (smoking) Gunz.  With plenty of Twitter beaks in the mix, this was bound to be an exciting series.

Game 1: 2-1 Dbacks
-------------------------------------

Veteran fireballer Tom Gayef got the start for the Dbacks, who was opposed by the other #44 from the Gunz, who also threw pretty good.

The Dbacks scored in the first after a 1-out double by Trask, followed up by a bloop single by Gerwing.  The Dbacks scored again in the 3rd with a clutch 2-out RBI by JB.

In the 6th, the Dbacks gave the Gunz a run.  Despite verbally informing the entire ballpark of the impending classic Gunz fake-bunt-steal about to happen, the DBacks let the runner from second steal 3rd.  He scored on a sac fly on the next pitch.

Gayef Rage was in full effect on this day: 0 walks, 13ks, 1 run, 1 on-field meltdown, 1 off-field meltdown.

Foddy continued his impressive DBacks career by getting injured for the 217th time.  He now has a baker's dozen lead over Trask for the all-time lead.

Wong obviously hasn't been laid in a while as he goes 0-fer.

JB went 2-3 with the game-winning 2-out RBI and made a nice grab in right center field gap to rob a triple.

Gerwing also went 2-3 with an RBI, despite taking a month off.

MVP - Gayef 13k, 0BB, 0ER, 5H
VAG - Wong for going 0 for 4 and not trying to bunt once.

Game 2: 10-2 Dbacks
-------------------------------------

Looking to clinch the series, the Dbacks looked to young left-hander Alex Regan, while the Gunz started veteran puss-slinger Trevor Ulmer.  Once again, the Gunz had difficulty with the Dbacks power-pitching.  Maybe their pitching machine needs a tune-up.

Regan was throwing hard. Ulmer was throwing the opposite of hard. There was a 80 mph gap between the velocities of the 2 starting pitchers.

JB went 4 - 4 and robs another extra base hit in the right center gap.  He is the early MVP candidate so far this playoffs.

Inserted for a start at 3B for his silky-smooth hands and stellar defence, Murray Ewonchuk proceeded to throw balls into right field, miss bunt signs, and rake balls into the right field corner.  #classic

Regan was trying to best the strikeout performance of Gayef the day prior (13), and clearly Zanutto and Teddy Ball game were on board has they purposefully let every GB through the middle giving Regan another attempt to strike out a Gun. He fell short with 11ks.

Gunz starting pitcher Trevor Ulmer was quoted after the game saying "I want to hit JB with my car" to which JB replied "Careful, I might get on base if you do that".

MVP - JB 4 for 4, 1RBI
VAG - Wong and Regan for going on a man-date to the movies instead of drinking beer
