Hallam, Collins Gather CAA Weekly Honors

Junior shortstop Kristin Hallam and freshman second baseman Kasey Collins have collected Colonial Athletic Association Weekly Honors as announced by the league Monday morning. Hallam has earned the CAA Player of the Week honor while Collins was selected as the league's Rookie of the Week. The award comes as the first of the season for both Pride players, but it is the second-straight week that at least one Hofstra player has been honored by the CAA.

In a 4-0 week for the Pride, Hallam hit .563 (9-for-16) at the plate and led the team with nine total hits with one double. She also tallied four RBI which tied for second on the team, and scored a team-high six runs while drawing two walks. In addition, Hallam posted a .625 slugging percentage and .611 on base percentage as part of her slash line. She was very effective on the base paths as well, going 5-for-5 on stolen base attempts. This week, Hallam posted at least two hits in every game, including three two-hit performances against St. John's Wagner, and Holy Cross, and went on to close out the week with a three-hit performance against Wagner. Hallam proved to play a major part in all four Pride wins this weekend, as she knocked in two runs and scored two runs that all held up for the win.

This season, Hallam is pacing the Pride in batting average, hitting .449 on the season which also ranks second in the CAA. She also leads the league in runs scored (27), total hits (31), and is fourth in on base percentage (.538). She also ranks second in the conference in stolen bases with 15.
