Angels gift Pirates a win
Posted June 10, 2017
Nightcap action at Optimist Park Thursday night saw the Junior Pirates steal away with a 5-2 win over the Regina Angels. Starting pitcher Noah Kaytor kept the Pirates lineup in check for two innings until some reckless throws in the third converted a Robert Ermel single into three Pirate runs. Another error in the fourth resulted in Will Stein crossing the plate converting his lead-off single. Parker Filazek would come on in relief in the fifth and give up a single run in the sixth, a Cole Paquin sacrifice fly cashing in Tyler Arnold. With starting pitcher Paquin having given way to Austin Punga, the Angels would finally come to life in the final inning, scoring a Filazek leadoff walk and a Gage Wendel triple. The Angels rally would end with two runners on....and murmurings of what might have been.
