Review Teams:

  1. Equipment. The league will provide each player with a flag belt, play sleeve, and reversible jersey that they can keep. Each team will get two footballs which will need to be returned at the end of the season.

  2. Each child will need to provide their own pair of shoes and a mouth piece.

  3. Age Groups. Based on the football sizes the league should consist of JV 6,7,8,9, and Varsity 10,11,12

  4. Team Size. Each team will consist of 8 players. 5 on the field at each time. 3 on the sidelines. A team must have a minimum of 4 players to compete in a game. Teams can swap players to ensure a 5 on 5 game can be played. In the event this occurs the team without 5 original team members must wear temporary jerseys for the game.

  5. Play Package/Band Assignments. Each team will be made up of the following colors. Positions must remain constant throughout the league.

    Black—QB    Yellow – Center   Blue – RB   Green – WR1   Red – WR2

Sideline Players Should Wear Blue, Green, Red

One player must be substituted after each play. Example the 2nd red man should have the next play and rotate out for the current red guy on the field bringing the next play into the huddle. This will help us avoid MPR. Between Offense and Defense, you can change which players where which bands. Example: Maybe the QB on offense should cover the QB on defense.

The intention of this system is to allow everyone on the field to easily understand their assignment and to keep the game moving quickly to make it more fun.

A sleeve can hold 15 plays.

    Play will generally consist of:

    7 Passing Plays

    2 running Plays

    2 custom

    4 Defensive formations

Defensive formations should be blitz, man, zone, deep threat.

Each Offensive play will have a number 1-11. When the players run to the huddle, he should have the play number, and the color who should expect the first look.  On a run he should list left or right for the direction of the play. Prior to each snap a huddle should be formed by both the offense and defense to review the plays.

Coaches and assistants. Both require a background check and are required to sign the code of conduct. The head coach will be appointed by the league. The assistant will be at the discretion of the head coach. No more than 2 coaches per team.  The head coach must take the flag football coaching clinic on line prior to taking the field. The league will reimburse the clinic and the background check charges. The coach must attend the preseason coaches meeting or forfeit the position. Score will be kept at each level and a league champion will be determined. The coach must coach based on the playbook of the league designer. The coach must follow the league substitution rules to ensure all players are getting reasonably equal playing time.

The coach will collect the sleeves, flags, cones, and footballs after each practice until the season is over. At the end of the season the coach will distribute the flags to the team members and return the bag, footballs, cones, and sleeves to the organization.

Officials. Coaches must volunteer to officiate other league games during the season. A schedule will be provided at the beginning of the year. JV coaches will officiate Varsity and Varsity coaches will officiate JV. We are trying to get the high school team to volunteer to officiate for service hours.

  6. Schedule:

Coaches Meeting. Meeting will be mandatory to go over the rules, volunteer schedule, and game flow.

Evaluations/Parents Meeting: Evaluations will be separated by league group. They will consist of a running drill, throwing drill, snapping drill, and a catching drill. Following the evaluations there will be a parent meeting to discuss the season and review the code of conduct.

Practices will be at 7 to 8 pm on scheduled nights. Mandatory water breaks should occur every 15 minutes. The coaches should include time to review the field, play calling method and rules of the game. Conditioning drills should include at the beginning and end of practice. Each Team will be assigned 1 half of the field for practice.

Games. Games will consist of two 20-minute halves with a 5-minute half time. Efforts should be made to ensure all kids participate on both offense and defense. The officials will keep time. A parent will be designated to keep score.  If a team is up by more than 36 points in the last ten minutes of the second half the game will end on a score rule. Time will only be stopped for injury and at the 2-minute mark of each half. The Referee will signal the two-minute warning. Each team will have the option of 1 time out per half for a total of 2.

Make up games. Make up games will be played on the next day of the original schedule. Games will be canceled at the discretion of the coaches. Both coaches must agree to play.
