St. Jean's 'excellent outing' leads to MM's win

Posted April 29, 2016

Dawson St. Jean needed only 87 pitches to push Mark Morris to a 3-1 victory over Hudson’s Bay in Greater St. Helens 2A League baseball Wednesday at MM.

“Dawson had an excellent outing,” MM coach Jason Mackey said, noting St. Jean’s five hits allowed and seven strikeouts. “He set the tone by throwing a lot of strikes, which kept our fielders ready to make plays.”

MM (5-4 league, 7-5) trailed 1-0 in the top of the fourth inning, but responded by scoring three runs in the bottom of the inning on a two-run hit from James Manthe, and an RBI sacrifice from Jordan Frost.

Easton McClung went 2 for 3 and scored a run as the Monarchs collected four hits. Noah Mejia had a hit, and he and McClung were praised for their outfield defense.
