Woodies Flying Into 2017

The Harrisburg Woodies kick off their 2017 season on May 10th in Parkston vs. the Mudcats with State Line League play opening the following week at home vs. Vermillion. 

Last season, the Woodies finished tied for 2nd place in the State Line League with a 14-7 record, including an undefeated home season at the Woodshed. Harrisburg qualified for the Class B State Tournament for the 3rd consecutive year, but fell in the first round to Dimock/Emery. 

The youth of the 2016 team returns with another year of experience under their belt. DWU outfielders Brody Kunzmann and JT Miller return after a respectable season in the GPAC. Augustana pitcher Dalton Allen returns for his 5th season with the Woodies and has helped bring in newcomer Ryan Menssen, the starting catcher for the Vikings in 2017. Former collegiate players Jace Saxon (DWU), Aaron LaBrie (Wichita St), and Drew Andela (Iowa Central) are also ready to get back on the field for the Woodies after a terrific 2016 summer. 

Harrisburg veterans Brian Stoebner, Kyle Rozeboom, Nick Ramstad, Matt Ramstad, John Spaeth, Brad Javers, and Joey Burg all return looking to carry the team deep into August. 

Along with Menssen, the Woodies are excited to add P/INF Drew Sweeter to the team. Sweeter has spent many years with the Lennox Only One and was most recently a member of the Dell Rapids Mudcats.
