Another Offensive Explosion!

Morgan Lyons is putting a stamp on his high school athletic career with his play on the diamond for the Baseball Bulldogs. As good as Mr. Lyons has been, he had never hit a home run over the fence (#24 did hit an inside the park HR at Washburn). That all changed on Tuesday, April 12! Morgan hit a solo home run over the left field wall in the 1st inning at Unaka. If that was not enough, as the offense batted around, Lyons came up with the bases juiced and proceeded to hit another ball over the left field wall, this one for a grand slam! Morgan hit 2 HR and knocked in 5 RBI in the first inning alone. Not finished, Morgan collected two more RBI on a bases loaded base knock in the top of the 3rd. Lyons raised his season batting average to .389, his career batting average to .356, and now has 56 career RBI!
Brody Hicks joined Caleb Royston and Chance Point as Bulldog hurlers with 2 wins apiece on the mound. Brody has looked solid in his last two outings after he and the coaching staff worked on some mechanical issues the staff felt were hindering Hicks. The second and third conference wins of the season were nice, scoring 45 runs in the process, but a trip to Mountain City looms on Thursday for a 5:00 first pitch against the Johnson County Longhorns.
