The Dog Days of a High School Baseball Season
Posted April 13, 2018
As we are on the stretch run of the 2018 season, we host the Sullivan East Patriots today, Friday, April 13th, the JV FCA Flames tomorrow, April 14th, and now, instead of playing at Indian Trail, we will travel to Thomas Stadium to compete against University High on Monday. First pitch for that game is now scheduled for 6:00.
When a club is in a funk, as we are right now, it's important to not overlook the positives that we are seeing. Freshman, Parker Henry continues to improve in centerfield, and yesterday vs. Providence, Henry had his first career Varsity hit and had competitive at-bats all day. Senior RHP, Gavin Hardin pitched his best overall game of the 2018 season. Hardin also hit a deep 2B that burned the centerfielder, which we hope is a sign of good things to come from Gavin. Landen Street had a really nice bunt for a hit that hugged the line on the left side. Caleb Oaks bat has been a big lift to our ball club in 2018. Losing is no fun, it's not, but we can't be blind to the good things we are doing that could contribute to winning baseball. We hope to see you at the ballpark today.
