The Senior Blue team traveled to Detroit Lakes and Perham this past weekend to play ball! The boys played well as a team and won 2 of their 3 games. Nice job Blue! Special thanks go to the coaching staff and parents for helping make this out-of-town opportunity happen for our players.  Senior Blue is coached by Head Coach Brad Vanderveren and Asst. Coaches Zach Selchow and Derek Titchner.  (July 20, 2020)

 UPDATE on the 2020 Season!

(as of 5/27/20)

We're pleased to announce that we will be able to start practicing and conducting tryouts for a revised summer season as early as Tuesday, June 2!

While we continue to work out many, many details and because we don't know what will happen week to week, we're adopting a phased approach to the season.  Phase 1 runs from June 2 (or the first practice) until June 27 (first games could be scheduled as early as June 15.) Phase 2 runs from the June 28 - through the playoffs (tentatively scheduled locally for August 6-8.)

Phase 1 will include in-person team practices/instruction (players will be organized into small groups per guidelines), cage time, intensive conditioning and any scheduled games.  Players should anticipate practicing at least 3 times per week starting no earlier than 5 p.m. during Phase 1. The cost for Phase 1 will be $200 which will include team fees and registration costs, coaching and instruction, tryouts, sanitizing equipment, and game costs (i.e. umps, balls, field rentals.)

When we confirm and are confident that Phase 2 is a "go", we will let families know that cost, but we anticipate that it will be no more than $250 making the total cost of the program (Phases 1 and 2) no more than $450 total. Phase 2 would include all costs associated with practices, games, and playoffs. The only way Phase 2 would not happen would be as a result of an official order from Governor Walz and not a decision by the Thunder Board or Thunder coaches. We are committed to providing an opportunity for our players to play ball!

The safety of players and coaches (and their families) will be a priority, and we will be following the guidelines put out by the MDH and CDC for youth athletic teams. Each team and organization is required to adopt and follow a COVID-19 safety plan, and we will follow the same plan (adapted as needed for our age groups) as is being used by the EVAA traveling baseball program.

At this time, we are not asking for any money; however, we are asking for players to make a commitment by May 31, 2020 so that we can continue to move forward with our planning for summer baseball. Please talk with your player about this opportunity, and if you are ready to commit, please complete this short formPlease complete even if you previously registered for the canceled Thunder tryouts this winter.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact any Eastview Thunder board member. All contact information for the Thunder Board can be found under "Contacts" in the menu on the left.

(as of 5/25/20)

The following message was sent to any family who had previously registered for 2020 Thunder tryouts. Please contact Joni Hagebock (952-818-9645/hagebock825@gmail.com) to be added to that list (for future communications) and feel free to forward this to other players/families that might not have initially registered for tryouts but might still be interested in playing ball this summer.

Good Evening Eastview Thunder Families,

When we received the extremely disappointing news that Legion ball was officially cancelled for 2020, we thought we were out of local options. However, our coaches continued to work behind the scenes with other teams who were dealing with the same situation. Thanks to their efforts, we have a new option that would allow our players to start working out as early as June 1 and play a 20 game season in July facing many of the same opponents originally scheduled for this summer.

Details are still being worked out, but to be clear, this will not be "Legion ball" as no team is permitted to organize using the Legion affiliation. This really is a grassroots effort led by our local coaches and organizations to put together an opportunity for summer baseball for our players.

Total cost, schedule, teams, safety plans, etc. are still being finalized and will be shared as soon as we have them available, but we wanted to give you this update and let you know to be watching your email for information on when/how to register.  We are hoping to have this registration site ready within a week.

We don't have all the answers yet, but it certainly feels good to see hope for some type of season for the 40+ players who were planning to participate in tryouts in early May. We sincerely hope that your son is still interested in playing with Eastview this summer.  If you have any questions in the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact me.

*Please forward to anyone who you know might be interested but may not have registered for tryouts.
