The Ford F-Series was redesigned by Ford for 1953 with a more integrated look. The pickups also obtained their widely familiar names: The F-1 now became the F-100, the F-2 and F-3 now became the F-250, and the F-4 now became the 1-ton F-350. Optional interior amenities were new, including a dome light, lighter, arm rests, sun visors and a radio. On March 13, 1953, the Ford-O-Matic automatic transmission became an option.

Although not an “old” car by any stretch of the imagination, our 2006 Mazda Miata MX-5 3rd Generation Limited Edition (#227) fits right in to the Specialty Car Class (not an official club class). Boasting a 2L, 170 HP 16 valve engine and a 6 speed manual transmission, our summer toy has enough power to make any highway a “fun” drive, and yet delivers +32 mpg on premium fuel, making it economical to drive too.

For the 1973 model year, Chargers received new sheet metal (though at first glance only the rear roof "C-Pillars" looked different) and were, in fact longer, wider, and slightly taller than the 1971-72 cars. Also new were vertically slatted taillights and new grilles. The 318 was still standard, with the 340 (available only on the Rallye), 360 (2-barrel only), 400 (low power 2-barrel/single exhaust and high performance 4-barrel/dual exhaust) and 440 remaining as options. Total sales this year were around 108,000 units, the highest ever for the 1971-74 Charger generation, though more than 60 percent of the cars had the non-high performance engines.
The blue and black 1973 Charger owned by Eddie Hacault of Bruxelles was purchased new with the Rallye package and equipped with the 340 Magnum motor and three-speed automatic transmission.
