Rock Lobsters! Blue Claws take 2 outta 3 from Hitmen

CINCINNATI, OHIO – The Blue Lobsters lost the opener of their three game series against the Hitmen. But they crawled back, pounding out a 13-4 victory in game 2 and hanging on for an 8-5 win in the rubber game of the series.
Game 1: Ralph Kiner went 2-for-3 with a home run and three runs batted in to lift the Hitmen past the Blue Lobsters, 4-3 at Crosley Field in Cincinnati.
Robin Roberts picked up the win for the Hitmen, continued to show why he is just 4-8 this season. Spotted to a 4-0, Roberts allowed solo home runs to Larry Doby, Gus Triandos, and Joe DeMaestri in a span of four batters in the fourth inning to make the score 4-3.
Luckily for the Hitmen, Roberts was able to settle down and kept the Lobsters are bay, hanging on for the 4-3 comlete game victory.
Jack Harshman, who the Hitmen also got to early in the game, settled down, limiting the Hitmen to just seven hits in picking up the loss.
Game 2 – The Hitmen trotted out Herb Score, who has been a standout this year. Unfortunately, it was not in Game 2, as the Lobsters roughed up Score for six runs in four runs on just three hits, recording a 13-4 victory. Score walked seven Lobsters and gave up two long runs in the loss.
Joe Altobelli, Harry Chiti, Dale Long and Jim Dyck all homered for the Lobsters, while Norm Zauchin blasted a home run for the Hitmen.
Jim Wilson picked up the win for the Lobsters.
Game Three: The Hitmen gave Gerry Staley the ball, execting the worst. Staley pitched better than anticipated, being charged with four runs in 2 1/3 innings. All was not Staley’s fault, as Pedro Gomez came in relief, down 2-0, with two runners on, and preceded to let both inherited runners to score.
Meanwhile the Hitmen bats where broken by Ike DeLock, limiting them to two hits in seven innings. After the hung four runs on Bob Feller in his second inning, the Lobsters pulled DeLock, trying to limit his innings. Seeing a new pitcher, the Hitmen woke up, led by Ray Jablonski to cut the lead to 8-4. A late rally was in the works in the ninth, as the first three Aviator hitters reaching base, cutting the lead to 8-5 and bringing the tying run up to the plate.
Lobster reliever Tom Hurd came and out the fire, picking up three quick outs for the save.
Gus Triandos wired two hits for three runs batted in, and Suitcase Harry Simpson has three hits and two RBI to lead the Lobsters.
