In Harty’s earlier days he used to dominate the league. He ended up taking a leave of absence for one reason. He started to throw too hard. He worried about drawing the attention of major league scouts, basically said more money, more problems. So he sent off on his own, teaching kids how to play baseball along the way, like a Johnny Appleseed without all the apples. He started to use his 100 mph fast ball to kill Grizzly Bears, Mountain Lions, and Striped Gophers. His weapon of choice was usually the nearest rock. He noticed his arm was losing velocity; sometimes it took two rocks to kill a grizzly. So with a weakened arm he returned to the DRS, first playing with his old team St. Benedict. Too many Jordan guys on the team, they reminded him of the hobo’s he’d met on his journey, so he decided to make a change to the Orioles. Welcome to the O’s.
