2009 Jersey/Equipment Hand Out @ Sussex Storage

Wednesday July 22nd & Thursday July 23rd 6pm - 8pm
Practice & game jerseys, game pants and mouth guards will be handed out.
If you have already picked up equipment, PLEASE have your son try on before that day so sizes can be exchanged if needed.
If you have not received equipment yet, you can pick it up on either day.
If you have your health history form filled out it can be turned in at jersey hand out. It is needed before the first practice on August 10th. Additional forms are located under the forms page of the website.
If you cannot make it to jersey handout - your son will get his equipment at the first practice.
First week of practice: players wear shorts, t-shirt, shoulder pads, practice jersey and helmet. Make sure to form the mouth guard before practice starts. The first week players must condition for 10 hours before they can participate in contact drills.

2009 Jayhawks T-shirts: Your son will be receiving a Gold Jayhawks t-shirt for participating in the program. Sizes were taken at equipment hand out and t-shirts will be handed out in late August.

2009 Spirit Wear: The new spirit wear order form is posted on the Forms section of the website. Ordering instructions are listed on the bottom of the form. All orders are placed online this year. The deadline for orders is August 1st!

Sussex Jayhawks 6^th grade cheerleaders - Sign ups for the cheer program is now full. Thanks to all of you for your interest.

For those who are new to the program - welcome!

Here is some information for the upcoming season...

When are practices? Practice will start August 10th and run Monday-Friday from 5pm-7:30pm at Marcy School. After Labor Day, practice will be Tuesday-Thursday from 5pm-7pm. Please make sure that you provide a water bottle for you child. The players will practice in all weather conditions with the exception of lightening.

When are games played? Games are played on Saturdays and game times vary depending on where the team is playing. The players are split into two teams - purple & gold. Most times the 6th grade team will play at noon and the 5th grade at 1:30. (Note to 5th grade parents - games run behind so sometimes you could start later). Schedules are subject to change and all changes will be posted on the home page of the website. You are responsible to get your child to the games. Maps will be posted on the website.

When are the teams split? The 5th graders will practice the first two weeks together and will be evaluated by the coaching staff. The coaches will divide the teams evenly.

Health History Form: Each participant in the Jayhawks program MUST complete a health history form that needs to be signed by a physician. Any player that does not have this turned in before the first practice in August will not be allowed to practice until it is completed. Forms are located under the handouts section of the website.
Note: Physicals are good for two years so if your son was in last year for a physical you only need to drop off the form to have your physcian sign off that he is eligible to play.

Jayhawks Emails: If you have not received any emails regarding Jayhawks since signing up, please click on the "email us" envelope on the left to get your email address added. Include your son's name as well as grade level.
