  Welcome to Longhorn Country!

Thank You.

Stark would like to thank everyone who makes amateur ball possible during the great Minnesota summers.  From the players, to the fans, to the concession workers, and to the many supporters of Stark baseball; we as a team are very grateful for everything you do to make Stark such a special place to play.  Good bye till next year and thank you for making the 2009 season a special one.

Stark's Season Ends in Regions.

Stark's season ended on Wednesday with a 3-0 loss to Essig at Johnson Park.  The game was a battle of two pitchers, as Essig's Dusty Fleck outdueled Leavenworth draftee Briar Braulick in a very tight ball game.  The game was 1-0 going into the bottom of the eighth until Essig pushed two insurance runs across off Braulick.  Stark would have their chances in the game but could not capitalize as they stranded nine runners total.  With the win Essig now moves on to play Hanska, a 6-4 winner over Sleepy Eye, with the winner joining Lamberton, representing Region 2, in the Class C State Tournament in Arlington.

Stark Stays Alive in Regions

Stark stayed alive Sunday night in Region 2 play by defeating #1 seeded Hanska 4-2 in a thrilling ball game.  Cody Walter’s fourth hit of the game proved to be the difference as he would drive in Craig Fischer with a single in the top of the ninth to put the Longhorns up 3-2.  An Andy Cook double would score Walter and would give Stark a 2 run cushion going into the bottom of the ninth.  Josh Hadley would shut the door in the ninth by striking out the side and leaving the tying run on first base.  Hadley went the distance surrending only one hit in the complete game.  Tyler Jensen’s home run over the trees in to left field would tie the game at 2 in the eight before the heroics in the ninth.

With the win, 4 teams will battle for the last spot to go to State.  Hanska, Sleepy Eye, Essig, and Stark all have one loss in regional play and will each play on Wednesday with Stark going to Johnson Park to face Essig at 8PM and Sleepy Eye traveling to Hanska.  The winners will play Friday with the winner earning a berth in the state tournament. Lamberton automatically advances to state as they are the last team without a region loss and will next play Saturday in the Regional Championship.
