Tigers' Playoff Run Ends in 1st Round
The Varsity Tigers were defeated by the Langham Creek Lobos this past week in two games, knocking them out of the State Playoffs. It was an exciting series & the Tigers fought tooth & nail both games. Even though the two losses were disappointing, the games showed that this young Tiger team has what it takes to make it back to the playoffs next year. Great job Tigers & work harder to get another chance!
Tigers Finish 18-5A Season in 3rd
Well, it was an exciting ride from start to finish with many ups and downs, but the Tigers' district season has come to an end. The Tigers just fell short of a share of the district championship but reached their goal of making the State Playoffs. On the way they were able to sweep district rival Stratford & split with their other nemesis & District Champion, Memorial. The Tigers finished 3rd with a 10-4 district record behind 2nd place Nimitz (11-3) & 1st place Memorial (12-2). The Tigers will now have to step up their game as they enter the first round of the playoffs next week. Great job Tigers & good luck!!
Sub-Varsity Season Comes to a Succesful End
The Sophomore & JV teams ended their season on Wednesday, April 26th combining efforts to beat Aldine 15-1! The end of the 2006 Sub-Varsity season marks one of the most successful in recent history. The Sophomore Tigers finished with an overall record of 14-8 & a district record of 10-4, finishing in 3rd place behind Memorial & Stratford. The overall record is a 6 game improvement from last year and a 12 game improvement from two years ago!! The JV Tigers finished with an overall record of 14-11 & a district record of 9-5, also putting them in 3rd place. This is the best district finish for the JV squad in the last three years!
The improvements of both teams proves that the Tiger Baseball program is once again on the rise & will prove to be a worthy opponent in years to come. These young men worked very hard the entire year & their efforts were greatly appreciated by the coaching staff. The coaches are excited about the potential of these younger players & are ready for them to become Varsity caliber players. As long as they continue to work to improve, they will all be wearing that "Gold Cap" in the near future! Good job guys & keep up the hard work!!
