Varsity:
August is finally over! Varsity has played hard for 4 straight weeks and has done some great things! We started the year 8-1 with a 2nd place finish at the Katy ISD Varsity Tournament. The team played some great volleyball over the weekend and beat Katy on the way. The team then went to Allen to play in the Texas Open tournament which included 5 of the top 10 teams in the state. We went 3 – 3 overall and learned some things on the way. Next up was the Pearland Nike Volleyball Classic. This is the biggest tournament in the nation, 84 teams, and always showcases the State Championship preview. After a long day on Thursday, going 1-2, the team bounced back Friday to go 2-1, beating Clear Lake on the way. Saturday brought more success as the team beat Grapevine and Colleyville Heritage to become the Silver Bracket Consolation Champions. The girls really played well along the way and showed great character on the court. In between all of the tournament play, we also played 3 matches versus the Woodlands, Tomball, and Foster; all 3 top ranked teams. Though we lost all 3, we did some great things and are really learning a lot to carry us into a repeat of the District Championship. We are finally playing at home for a few matches. Next up is Pearland on September 2, then Stratford on September 7, and finally district begins at home versus Katy on Friday, September 9. Thank you to all of the parents that have been so helpful and supportive of the team and staff…we couldn’t do it without you guys! I am looking forward to a very successful district season and playoff run!
