Due to the fact that registration day at the Community Center, held on Sunday February 28th, DIRECTLY conflicts with the Semi final and the Gold metal games of the Olympic Hockey schedule AND tryouts/Evaluation day scheduled for March7th was going to happen during spring break, BY POPULAR DEMAND we are rescheduling registration date and tryout/evaluation day to SATURDAY, February 27th, 2010. At the Hotstove

The Bantams tryout/evaluations will be done at 9 am - 11 am
The Midget tryout/evaluations will be done at 11 am - 1 pm

As every one is aware SOMBA is now running the entire Bantam/Midget program. Penticton Minor baseball is doing the 5-12 year old programs.  We are very excited about these changes as it will give us a chance to provide the best opportunities for all players through well organized programs that will challenge players at all levels. These opportunities will give the players of Penticton the chance to play ball in competitive Summer Leagues and also the "All Star programs".

SOMBA has a Winter program available to all players 13-17 years old. It is currently taking place in the Hotstove, our NEW Indoor baseball facility, and at the Community Center.  (Schedule is below as well as the address for Hotstove) Check it out !! Registration forms are available at the Community Center and at the Hotstove or on this website.

We encourage players to take part in the winter program as it prepares players to compete with confidence through fundamental skill development, proper mechanics/techniques and knowledge of the game. It is also the key component in injury prevention. The program is led by 5 certified and position specific coaches. The program offers 3 sessions a week, and was kept to a minimal cost, making it affordable to players that are only able to make it out once or twice a week or for the players that start a bit late. This program is the key to your child getting lots of game time and the coaches not having to worry about injury to players. SOMBA will not put players in positions that may cause them injury. There is still space in the program for a few players. Any one needing more information on Winter baseball can contact Debbie Harvey at 250-493-6687.
.
SOMBA executive will have their hands full this year but look forward to the challenges ahead. We will do our best to make sure that Registration goes smooth and team selection is what you are looking for. We have run a very successful Bantam/Midget program for the past five years and our intention is to provide an even better program this year. We are open to any suggestions you might have.

In the 2010 registration form fees include, in all divisions, the Uniforms which will be the flex fit hats, shirts, pants, socks and belt. Also the year end tournament.  Midget AAA and Bantam AA will also have a tournament paid for during the year as they fund raise for these events. SOMBA will have qualified coaches for each team. There will be 36 league games for the Midget AAA with exhibition and tournament games totaling about 50 games. They will practice twice a week with a optional batting practice on Friday nights.  Bantam AA will have 16 League games with Exhibition and Tournament games, totalling about 25 games, with 2 practices a week. Bantam A and Midget AA will have about 20 games, and 2 practices a week. We are hoping SOMBA will be able to set up a variety of exhibition games for all the teams, we are always approached by associations, Big League and School teams in the states to play games. There is a big world of baseball out there for us to join into if you are interested. We promise to have a busy season filled with fun.
Midget AAA registration can be divided up into three equal consecutive payments with the first cheque dated for March 1, 2010. Please speak to Donna Clarke at 250-494-4263 for any other arrangements you may need.  Please also note that a  link to Kidsport, and the application forms for assistance with registration fees up to $300, can be found under the Links tab.
Registration will be taken at the Community Center on February 28th, 2010.
