Thanks to all those that have come out for the track team. We have gotten off to a great start due to some overall nice weather as of late and over 140 boys in our track program. That is the most ever and the guys are really working hard.

The 1st order on SLHS Gear should be coming soon and the window is now open for order #2 which will conclude at 11:59 P.M. on January 27th. If you have not looked at the selection please do so. The prices are amazing!!

Also Lukes Locker has "Spike Night" for those interested in trying out shoes etc.. on January 21st from 6:30 P.M. to 8:30 P.M. You will receive 15% discount on certain items.

Posted Dec 15/11 - 2012 Track Information and Winter Break Schedule

Please refer to the handout section for information on the 2012 Track and Field season and also a schedule for workouts with the team and workouts to be done on your own over the Holiday Break. Please see that there is a change from the schedule given to the cross country team earlier. We will not meet as a team on December 24th and on December 26th!!!!

Workouts have been going well and the breaks sometimes see many athletes regress and not complete their workouts. Although this part of our training falls during our Holiday break it is vital and failure to workout hurts the individual and the team. Many of you will be out of town and sometimes getting the work is difficult but this is what also separates the bad from the good from the great in our sport!

January 9th is a day we will have our 1st official practice with everyone. Mondays during the season is a day we will also have our 1st period, 7th period, and after school track guys meet at 3:00 at the track for our weekly "all Track meeting" At this time distance has two practices on Monday any way. It is their longest day and distance practice where the workout is broken up.

The Spartan Club – Summary of Benefits to Join

1. The Spartan Club is an all volunteer organization that raises money for all of the Seven Lakes High School sports teams. We are a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, and your generous Membership donations are TAX DEDUCTIBLE.

2. Many of the sports items and supplies used by the teams are funded thru KISD. However, when the KISD funds run out, the Spartan Club funds take over.

3. Examples of items previously funded thru the Spartan Club:

AED’s throughout the gym and athletic facilities. Cushioned chairs for Basketball, Volleyball, and Wrestling. Roster Boards for Basketball. 4WD Gator for Football, Soccer, Baseball & Softball. For Spring 2008, all teams combined their funds for weights and exercise equipment for our Auxiliary Weight Room.

4. In addition to memberships, the Spartan Club:

- Manages concession stands at Seven Lakes home games & hospitality room at Football games

- Assists with organizing Team Banquets & Hospitality Rooms for many of the team sports

- Offers Spirit Wear for sale

- Arranges Full-Color Programs for Football and many other sports

- Coordinates Senior Scholarships – 4 girl’s and 4 boy’s @ $1,000 each

- Manages the funds collected by your teams fundraising efforts

- Provides funds for SLHS Sports Medicine group

5. The amount of money the Spartan Club provides for each sport, is based on each team’s total membership donation dollars, multiplied by the participation percentage. The higher the participation percentage, the more of the team’s membership dollars that goes to each sport.

6. There are 6 membership levels – The “BEST VALUE” is the Spartan Hero level of $250, which includes 2 KISD Athletic Passes. If purchased early in the school year, using these passes will easily cover the $250 donation amount.

7. If you have some free time, get involved with the Spartan Club. Come to our General Membership meetings and volunteer for a

committee. Once again, we are an ALL VOLUNTEER organization.

Posted May 22/11 - LeRoux/Ricketts/ Texas East Team shine at Congress Avenue Mile

The East Team won the Congress Avenue Mile this past Saturday in Austin where the best milers in the state of Texas raced for bragging rights. Alex LeRoux ended his high school career in dramatic fashion by finishing in the top 10 with a very impressive 4:12!!!!!!! Junior Nathan Ricketts also ran well clocking a 4:18!!!!!
