Win Pays Dividends
Yesterday's win against Laces earned the A's the rest of the day at the pool and the beach. The bye also comes with a price - a 9 am start tomorrow morning, although that is something the A's have become accustomed to over the past couple of days..
Getting Ready to Rumble
The A's jumped out to an early 2-0 lead against Woodinville, but were unable to hold on as 5 walks and a double in the bottom of the second handed Woodinville a six-spot.
Offensively, the A's put the ball in play throughout the order and chipped away to plate one and cut the deficit to 3, a timely hit away from evening the score.
Rookie Balint Orban has been especially impressive - hitting the ball hard in every at bat, hustling at all times, and always ready and willing to help out with anything that needs doing.
Throughout the weekend, the A's have battled hard and are developing the ability to maintain a consistent focus. The players are continuing to gell and bond, looking forward to defending their Provincial championship next weekend.
Bellevue Rings Up A's
After shutting down the powerful Bellevue offence in the first inning, Kris Fibish and Mack Li hit back to back singles to get the A's started. Brady Veltin drew a walk to load the bases, but neither Marlon Anderson nor Trevor Jorger were able to get anything going and the A's left the sacks juiced, coming up empty in the bottom of the first.
Starter Scott Amy was in the groove on the hill for the A's until an error and a passed ball combined to put a Bellevue runner on third with two outs in the second inning. He was singled home and then Scotty retired the side with his second K of the day.
The A's sticks fell silent after that, as Bellevue struck out the side in the top of the third. With two out in the third, the A's defence made some costly decisions and lost their focus, giving up a six spot.
From there, it became a boat race with Bellevue eventually plating 16 while the A's were unable to eke out another hit.
Laces Come Undone, A's Walk Off with Win
Led by a complete-game gem from starting pitcher Mack Li, the A's took advantage of a wild pitch and a bases-loaded walk to snitch a 2-1 victory from Laces Baseball Academy.
Mack allowed only 2 hits while ringing up 7 strikeouts over 6 innings, after which the game was called due to the time limit. He also walked 7 while the A's committed 2 errors behind him to create a couple of jams that he bore down to survive, surrendering only a solitary run in the 3rd after giving up a lead off double.
Kris Fibish led the offence, going 1 for 2 with a double and scoring quickly thereafter on a passed ball and a wild pitch.
Brady Veltin went 2 for 3, and Marlon Anderson hit the ball hard all 3 times he went to the plate, reaching on an error and a "single" to right.
The so-called single came in the bottom of the 6th in a 1-1 deadlock after Amy and Fibish had both made out to lead off the inning. Veltin singled and then Anderson hit a one-hopper to right that was picked up quickly and thrown to first. The first baseman was ready to relay the ball to home, and completely ignored Anderson as he jogged past him to load the bases. Trevor Jorger patiently waited out a walk to seal the victory for the A's.

Oliver Tournament Schedule Change
We play Laces to open the tournament, not Magnolia. And the second game on Friday has been moved back to 2:30 in the afternoon. Where should we go for brunch in Oliver?
