2012 NMBA Bantam and Pee Wee Single Season Team Info
Happy new year to all 2012 Bantam and Peewee eligible players.
For the upcoming season, NMBA intends to roster both Bantam AAA, AA and Peewee AA teams (as well as house teams in both divisions).
The Bantam AAA team will be competing in the BC Minor AAA league featuring teams from Vancouver Island (5), the Lower Mainland (8), and the Okanagan (2). The Bantam AA team will have an island specific component for the spring expanding to encompass lower mainland teams into the summer. League play for both teams will commence in April and could extend into late July and early August should either team advance beyond provincials.
The Peewee AA team will begin an island exhibition schedule in early April through June. The team will largely morph into the summer Peewee AAA team. Separate tryouts for this team will be scheduled in June. The Peewee AAA summer season could extend into August if the team advances beyond provincials.
Age eligible players committed to playing baseball at an elite level are encouraged to tryout for these teams via preseason indoor activities planned to begin later this month. Times and dates will be forthcoming. Please continue to visit the NMBA website regularly for further information.
Announcing...the return of All-Star Bantam Baseball!
All-Star Bantam baseball is returning to Nanaimo. During the spring and summer, Nanaimo will field Bantam AA and AAA teams. This opportunity is for those players interested in developing their game and playing against some of the best players in British Columbia. All-Star baseball requires a high level of interest and commitment. If you want to come and learn more about the plan, please attend a parent meeting at Centennial Bldg at 5:30 on Tuesday, February 7th. Feel free to bring your son or daughter along to the meeting.
Bantam Baseball Camp
This camp is for players interested in getting five weeks of instruction and development before try-outs. Bantam AA and AAA coaches along with a number of baseball experts will provide a challenging and exciting baseball experience. This camp will help players increase their level of success when they hit the field in mid-March. The cost for the camp will be $150, payable to NMBA at the first session.
Centennial Bldg 3:30-5:30

Bantam AA & AAA Try-outs
Try-outs for the Bantam AA & AAA Pirates will take place on March 13th and 15th at Centennial Building from 3:30 until 5:30 p.m. It is expected that players get lots of preparation before try-outs, so their arms are prepared for throwing and their bodies are prepared for physical work-outs. Try-outs will be free, but a child must attend at least one try-out date to be eligible to play. Obviously, the more opportunity that you give the coaching staff to see your child perform then the more aware the staff will be of your child’s talent.
Jr, Sr Pirates and Bantams - Practice Sessions
New times for the Centenial Building are every Sunday starting Jan 29th (Feb 5, 12, 19, 26) from 2 -4pm. No Charge for these sessions, and all ages (Bantam, Jr, Sr) are again welcome.
Also, Wednesdays (Feb 1, 8, 15 and 22) will be used for pitchers and catchers from 6 - 8pm at the Madill Building. No charge for these sessions. Even if you're unable to throw a bullpen that day, still show up and pitchers can do other drills (PFPs, towel drill, balance work, etc).
Any positional players who want to come and long toss are welcome. Positional players can come and go as you please.
