Jerry's Kids is heading into an exciting time! JK is in the D NIT in Joliet, then the City Tournament, then a qualifier and off to state! JK is 21-9 on the season..overall since 2002 JK is 279-169-2 Pitcher Scott Santerelli is nearing 400 career pitching wins entering Tuesday July 15 with 393 Ryan Fair currently has 13 home runs and is on pace to break the JK single season home run record of 16 held by Jason Adams

It appears via coin toss we took 9th in state! wow...we finally got two good coin tosses in a row! dont know how to take this but and it might change but what the heck! 9th is not too bad..

JK was shutout in the City Tourney for the first time since 3/4/04, it was the first game of the '04 season. In that same time frame JK has shutout their opponents 12 times.

We are officially a thread on serioussoftball.com.....wow we are bad huh? too bad we dont play like that or do that stuff on purpose. here is what was said....

The pitcher is 3foot 9 maybe a buck 10 but talks like he is 6foot 7. What a chooch. Everyone who plays against this kid should shoot middle. Big Ox almost took his shin off

Pitchers these days have to have some attitude and brash in order to hold that spot on the field. But JK pitcher might want to think about what he says if you have a team that can shoot it up the gut! He may be opening mouth and inserting ball.

Who was classless after we beat you saying we have only one good player and we suck...then someone calling us a bunch of retards...very classy...also it was not us talking trash ask your first baseman...it was the team you just beat...for the record we were not shooting the box on purpose either...and if we were we are just "retards" and have "no players" anyway as your team said...hmmm...i am sorry if we came off cocky to anyone..honestly that is not us...but if other teams talk we ae not going to back down. as far as are pitcher being cocky...sheesh come and talk to him he is not cocky at all and actually he will tell you he sucks and he would never talk trash especially as a pitcher...he got hit in the shin by redrum and never said a word to the player who did it..wow that is cocky..and when there was an argument in the redrum game over a hard slide into second he was the first saying to just be quiet and play softball to his own players...think what you want..we surley are not educated as over half the team are teachers...inbreeding nah...we are just your average team that likes to play hard and go drink a beer afterwards...we all have to work the next day.

Hey OC - who are you? - The Jerry's Kids' responses at least have the balls to say who is making the comment. Your sadly mistaken, JK is one of the classiest teams in Joliet. Ask any umpire and they will tell you the same. It must have been tough for you guys to have gone 1-1 and only outscored JK by 5 runs in two games. Maybe your team needs to drop down too.

Look who's talking your not saying who you are. By the way JK 1-2 Orange Crush 5-2. I should have posted my comments directed to individual players on your team. Not all of you are jags. One two maybe 3times box is possible but not 5 or 6. Some of those balls almost took our pitchers heads off. 7 out of our 11 batters can go middle at will and not once did we do that. You can say it was not on purpose all you want but that not the truth. Usually I wouldn't care if you guys are the type to play that way but after playing 6games in a row our pitcher was lucky to leave that game with his face attached.

So your team didn't shoot the middle, but in an earlier post you said "What a chooch. Everyone who plays against this kid should shoot middle". Oh your so classy.

5-2 Wow way to roll through the losers bracket. Two of the teams you beat, this was thier first tournament.

P.S. My name isn't important, I'm not the one calling out a whole team as a bunch of hilrods and calling for all teams who play against them to try and hurt a player. That's ridiculous and takes no balls, it should have been finished on the field.

As your team was shooting the middle most of your guys were laughing. In fact in the beg. of the game some of your guys were yelling to take the pitcher out. I pray we see you again so it can be finished on the field. No excuse for your teams behavior. Like I said stick to league ball where that play is exceptable

actually, if you would have looked over at our dugout it was the team you just beat drinking beers that was yelling shoot the middle and laughing just ask the guy who was playing first for you that last game (a classy guy)he came over after our game and talked to us.

by the way "resinhands" why does the way you are dressed determine if you get the middle shot at you?

actually why is all this stuff on here about me...i suck...i walk a ton of guys and cant hit...

This is getting to be a bit ridiculous. I believe after the first game jack said that we were only a mediocre team and had only one player on our entire roster....seems a bit unrealistic for a "mediocre team" that "belongs in a church league" to have 7 of 11 players able to shoot the box when they want...Also i believe there is a new rule that the pitcher can stand up to six feet behind the rubber to protect from this happening...take advantage of it....all in all it is part of the game and no one can argue that....and f*** jack made all the plays up the middle....and to say that we are classless and whatever else you said makes little sense considering you were the one to come on here and make several other intelligent comments when i believe on saturday after the game there were no comments made at all and everything was fine, "just a competitive game" was all i heard come out of anyones mouth....hmm easy to be tough when youre sitting at a desk in front of a screen

Game 3 saw JK battling the Ghostbusters.

Jerry's Kids opened up 2007 league play with a 15-5 5 inning win Monday night. JK cruised to the victory despite giving up 3 runs in the 1st. JK was lead by John Hopkins and his team leading 3rd homerun and 4 rbi. Ryan Fair returned to the JK lineup for the 1st time and had 3 hits and 4 rbi. Greg Smith added 3 hits and Aaron Hinchliffe, Jeremy Poch, Joe Ballantine, and Dan Anderson all added 2 hits.

Jerry's Kids goes 2-2 finishes tied for 5th in 1st tournament of the year! Altogether a good 1st start for JK as they showed they can play with top tier teams in the area and that JK will battle till the end no matter what the odds. Here is the recap of the days events....

JK won game 1 against Gier tv 10-9 as JK rallied late for the 1st win of the season. JK jumped to a 3-0 lead only to have Gier put up 7 in inning 3 and 2 more in the 5th for a 9-3 lead. JK then got rolling with 4 in the 6th to cut the lead to 9-7 on a 3 run homer by Jason Adams and an rbi double by Aaron Hinchliffe. In the top of the 7th JK then got a 2 out clutch 3-run inside the park home run by John Hopkins to take the lead. John Hopkins finished with 4 hits, 2 home runs and 6 rbi, Cory Catalani had 3 hits, Jason Adams had 2 hits including a towering 3 run homer, and JK newcomer Brian Chelgren had 2 hits.

Game 2 saw JK matched up with Venom. JK and Venom battled back and forth early but Jk found themselves falling behind 9-5 after 4 innings. JK cut the lead to 9-8 only to fall behind 15-9 going into the bottom of the 7th. In the bottom of the 7th Jason Adams led off miracle comeback with a triple followed by a single by Brian Chelgren, doubles by Mike Morris and Aaron Hinchliffe and a walk to Adam Brsan. After after 2 quick outs JK was still down 2 runs with runners on base. Clutch singles by Steve Tubman, Scott Santerelli, and Cory Catalani tied the game and sent the game into extra innings. 6 runs later JK showed a tough Venom team they do not ever quit! After giving up a run to Venom in the top half of the 8th Jk went back to work with consecutive singles to start the 8th by Adams and Chelgren. After an out by Hinchliffe hit a clutch single to tie the game and brought the heroics to Adam Brsan who delivered a single off the wall for the win! JK was led by Jason Adams (5-5,HR,4 rbi),Brian Chelgren (4-5,2 rbi)and Cory Catalani and John Hopkins had 3 hits a piece! This was another classic JK game!

Game 3 saw JK matched up with the eventual tournament champions Ken's Beverage. JK would battle till the end but fall 14-7. JK was led by Jason Adams and Brian Chelgren with 3 hits each and Scott Santerelli, Cory Catalani, and Adam Brsan with 2 hits each.

Game 4 found JK in the loser's bracket matched up against the rival Young Guns. The Young Guns proved to be too much for the tired Jk squad as they beat the Kids 14-4 in 5 innings. Jason Adams drove in 3 runs and Scott Santerelli singled in the loss as JK managed only 6 hits.

Jerry's Kids finish the 2006 campaign 23-23-1

8/24 Jerry's Kids wrap us Wednesday night league (9-3) with a 12-1, 5 inning victory against the rival Young Guns. JK was lead once again by the hot bat of Ryan Fair who had 3 hits including a homer and 4 rbi, Danny Anderson had 3 hits including a homer and 3 rbi, Steve Tubman had 3 hits and 2 rbi including a huge triple! Gary Thiakos and Cory Catalani contributed 2 hits a piece with both coming up with stellar defensive plays! JK is now 22-23-1 on the season and concludes play with a game Monday against Newstar which tied JK earlier in the year.

8/21 Jerry's Kids goes 3-2 in their 1st D state tournament and finish up 17th out of 60. Some highlights include the JK defense which was outstanding all-around especially in the infield with the solid defense at the corners with Pat Walker and Cory Catalani and the awesome double play combo of John Hopkins and Jeremy Poch. The outfield was solid as usual with Gary Thiakos and Aaron Hinchliffe on the left side and Ryan Fair and Steve Tubman on the right side. Offensively we have a new star in the making with the name Ryan Fair who hit .727 with 3 homeruns and 13 rbi in the 4 games! John Hopkins also hit amazing with a .727 avg. and 6 rbi, Pat Walker added an awesome .667 avg. Ken Affrunti the professional hitter hit .600 and Gary Thiakos his .500.

8/8 Jerry's Kids score 2 in the bottom of the 7th to defeat Ali Baba's 5-4 and get pitcher Scott Santerelli his career win number 300!

8/5 Jerry's Kids go 2-2 and finish a season best in a tournament 5th claiming a state birth and losing to the 1st and 2nd place teams by a run in which JK had the lead in each game.

8/2 Jerry's Kids with the streak over looked to battle a tough Lynch Mob team which beat JK 17-14 earlier in the year. JK missing several key players battled and took an earlier 3-0 lead which was short lived as the Mob put up a 5 spot to secure the lead and after 3 innings the score was 8-8. JK then proceded to outscore the Mob 12-4 over the final 4 innings to win going away 19-12. JK was led by Jeremy Poch 4-5 4rbi, Jason Adams 4-5 2rbi,HR, Steve Erickson 4-5, 3rbi, and Scott Santerelli, Ryan Fair, and Brad Walsh had 3 hits a piece.

8/1 Since losing to One Timers on June 24 in a qualifier, Jerry's Kids began a streak the 5th year franchise had not been used too...a losing streak which spanned 12 games without a win (there was a forfeit win sprinkled in between the streak which did not count in ending the slide and a tie). During this streak JK managed to lose close games in which it had the lead late (for example the city tournament in which JK went an unacceptable 0-2) and games which JK has been slaughtered by lesser competition (17-4 by a Heavy Hitters team in a tournament that dropped down to E a week later). So going into Monday's game against Alfa's which beat JK early in the season 15-14 and featured at least 6 starters from the city champion squad of this year JK was not very confident. Some of the same thing happened this game as has happened during the last 5 years....JK had a lead in the 7th and blew it. JK also stopped hitting after scoring runs early on which has been a bad habit this season as well. This game played as if JK would drop another one and extend the non-winning streak to 13 as a slew of errors allowed Alfa's to tie the score in the 7th and even take a lead going to the bottom of the 9th. Something changed then for JK in the bottom of the 9th. Joe Ballantine led off with a triple and tied the game on Andy Christiansen's sac fly. Steve Erickson had a clutch single and with 2 outs Greg Smith delivered his first hit of the game followed by Cory Catalani's 5th hit followed by the biggest hit of the year so far, a 2 out clutch walk off single by Jeremy Poch his 3rd hit of the game. For JK the streak was over and as they celebrated victory never tasted so good.

7/6 Jerry's Kids starts off July with the teams 5th straight loss falling to Young Guns 18-11. JK's season record is now 9-13-1. JK is not playing good at all. No timely hitting (and barely any hitting at all in tournaments) and the defense has been horrible. Part of the reason could be a lack of players playing the same position and lack of the same players showing up every night. Another factor is a lack of intensity that JK has shown in the past. Yes on paper when everyone is present JK presumably has a really good team that can compete with anyone but not everyone has been at the games. With John Hopkins not being able to play leagues now to go along with Joe Ballantine, Ken Affrunti (no games yet this season), and Jason Adams limited league games and Greg Smith being injured it is time everyone else stepped up! The addition of Ryan Fair has been tremendous but the guys behind him need to step up. JK keeps saying wait till we have our guys, well that might be too late. We are now a mediocre team which no one fears and they think is an easy victory against in tournaments (which is true since we have not won a game in a tournament against a true "D" team because our wins was a forfeit and a win against an "E" team. Step up to the plate and reclaim that old JK swagger that has disappeared so quickly.

6/22 JK beats Bedrocks 18-7 in 5 innings to go 9-8 on the season. JK saw everyone in the lineup produce at least one rbi led by Steve Erickson(3-3 4 rbi), Jason Adams (3-4, 4rbi) John Hopkins(3-4 2 rbi) Jeremy Poch(3-3,rbi) Jeff Stubler (2-3,rbi) Dan Anderson(2-3,rbi) Scott Santerelli(2-3,rbi).

6/15 Jerry's Kids evens season record at 8-8 with a 14-4 5 inning victory Wednesday night over Zelmo's. JK all but put the game away with a 10 run 1st inning in which JK sent 14 men to the plate. Jk was led offensively by Greg Smith (3-4, 5rbi) Jeremy Poch (2-3 rbi) Al Van Gampler (2-3 rbi) John Hopkins (2-3, 2rbi) Pat Walker (2-3 rbi) and Aaron Hinchliffe (2-3 rbi).

6/11 Jerry's Kids go 2-2 in "D" Qualifier. Despite missing several key players JK managed a 2-2 performance which was an improvement over their 0-3 last time out. The tournament format was a little different with the rain causing a one-pitch format. JK was led by Scott Santerelli .600 4 rbi, Gary Thiakos .667 2rbi, Danny Anderson .556 5rbi, Joe Ballantine .571 HR 2 rbi, Jeremy Poch .429 5rbi.
JK is now 6-8 on the season.

6/6 Jerry' Kids forgets bad start in may and gets off to a great start in June with a 18-9 win over Ali Baba's.
New Faces (Jeff Stubler 3-4 4rbi, Adam Hutten 2-3, 5rbi, Danny Anderson 3-4 rbi) and old faces returning (John Hopkins 3-5 rbi,Todd Francisco 4-4 rbi) led JK's 28 hit attack with the help of the JK mainstays like Steve Tubman and his 3-4, Steve Erickson 3-4 2rbi, and Gary Thiakos 2-3 all mixed and you have the formula for success! JK is now 4-5 on the season and almost back at full strength.

5/23 Jerry's Kids drops 2nd straight game by one run, this time in 8 innings.
JK for the second straight game had a lead throughout the game only to relinquish the lead late and lose. JK gave up 4 runs in the bottom of the 7th to tie the game and fell by giving up a run in the bottom of the 8th. JK was lead by Gary Thiakos (4-5, 3b, rbi) Aaron Hinchliffe (3-5, 3 rbi) Jeff Stubler (3-5, 3 rbi), Matt Narducci (3-4, hr 2rbi) and Steve Erickson (2-2, 3b, rbi) Jk is now 2-2 on the young season.

5/16 As Rain Falls so does Jerry's Kids, 12-11 to the Plumbers & Pipefitters

After picking up the lead run in the top of the 7th the Plumbers pitched around the "Kids" to get to Jerry himself in the bottom of the 7th up a run. JK was hoping the 61 year old had one more clutch hit left in his tank. Jerry came up to bat with pinchrunner Andy Christiansen (on for Jeff Stubler (2-3 2rbi) who walked to start the inning) at 3rd being the tieing run......Jerry went to a full count before flying out to the shortstop and giving the Plumbers a 12-11 win and JK their 1st loss of the season. Amidst the constant drizzle JK was lead again by new acquisition Greg Smith and his 4 hits, Steve Tubman continued his amazing hitting going 3-3, Pat Walker (2-3, rbi) and Jeremy Poch (2-4, 2 doubles and an rbi) each had 2 hits and Danny Anderson drove in 3 runs and had 2 hits for JK now 2-1 on the young season.

5/11 Jerry's Kids wins 27-19 to go 2-0

Jerry's Kids bats came alive behind the pitching of Scott Santerelli to pound out 34 hits and 27 runs! JK was lead by Scott Santerelli's 4 hits and 5 rbi including 2 doubles, LF Gary Thiakos had 4 hits and 4 rbi including 2 homeruns and a triple, Aaron Hinchliffe had 5 hits and 4 rbi, Jeremy Poch had 4 hits and 4 rbi including a a triple and and a double, Danny Anderson had 3 hits and 5 rbi including a long homerun, Steve Tubman had 4 hits and an rbi, Greg Smith had 3 hits and an rbi, Jeff Stubler had 3 hits and 2 rbi, Pat Walker had 2 hits, and Al Van Gampler had 2 hits and played a tremendous shortstop!

5/9 Jerry's Kids 2006 opener starts slow ends fast!

JK's 2006 opener saw JK give up 4 runs in an error filled first inning, then another 2 runs after a 2 out walk by pitcher Scott Santerelli. JK then shook off the rust and the new additions to the team propelled JK to score the next 18 runs to an easy 18-6 5 inning victory. JK was lead at the plate by their newest addition outfielder Greg Smith who hit for the cycle in order getting a single, double, triple, and in his last at-bat a 3 run homerun finishing 4-4 with 7 rbi! Infielder Jeff Stubler added 2 hits and 2 rbi,Infielder Danny Anderson added 2 hits including a triple. Left Fielder Gary Thiakos had 2 hits and 1 rbi,Right fielder Steve Tubman added 3 hits and an rbi,Left Center fielder Aaron Hinchliffe added 2 hits and an rbi,Thirdbaseman Pat Walker added 2 hits and an rbi, shortstop Jeremy Poch had 2 hits including a homerun and 3 rbi, all to back up the pitching of Scott Santerelli who also added 2 hits and 2 rbi. JK is now 1-0 and takes the field again on Wednesday night at 8:30pm.

As JK opens up play for 2006 in the Joliet Park District, expect to see some new faces....Greg Smith (the Providence high school boys varsity basketball coach and standout player will be wearing green full time this year!), Danny Anderson (former Deerpath and Heroes and Legends pitcher and catcher will be in green), Jeff Stubler (the big boy from One-Dog softball will be swinging for JK green this year), and Al Van Gampler (the hall of fame legend will be directing the infield for JK on Wednesdays) will be taking swings for JK this year!

JK is saddened to learn of the retirement of Fred Gestel this past weekend. In a press conference Fred decided it was time to walk away from the game for a little while due to personal reasons. Fred will be missed on JK because of his leadership qualities and great bat. In his 2 years with JK Fred led the team in rbi each season. Coach Jerry said "Fred is great competitor and will really be missed a lot by everyone on Jerry's Kids. He was not only a great player but a great teammate!" Fred best wishes go out to you and your family. You will always be a Jerry's Kids in our books!
Fred becomes the third Jerry's Kids to retire in franchise history with Tom Grenchik and Rob Dunbar being the other two.

JK is proud to announce the addition of Greg Smith to the JK lineup! Greg has played with JK as a sub the last 3 seasons and has done quite well hitting over .600! Greg will be a tremendous help to JK as the Providence Basketball coach will be patrolling the outfield and hitting leadoff for JK!

Welcome to year #5 as Jerry's Kids! We are now a Illinois Men's class "D" team! We are heading into a year full of mystery as JK will be facing top competition. As of 2/6/06 the status of certain JK players remained uncertain. The core of players are back which includes LF Gary Thiakos, LC Aaron Hinchliffe, SS John Hopkins, 3B Joe Ballantine, 1B Pat Walker, P Scott Santerelli, RC Jason Adams, and C Steve Tubman. JK is also looking to lock up IF Jeremy Poch, AH Ken Affrunti, and OF Fred Gestel. Under the guidance of Jerry Santerelli JK will battle this season!

9/6 Jerry's Kids has played in 4 state tournaments since being formed 4 years ago...in those 4 years JK has lost to the 1st and 3rd place team of the state tournament during state twice, lost to the 3rd place team 3 out of 4 years at state, and played the state champion during the season 3 out of 4 years with the one year that JK didn't play the state champ they played the 2nd and 3rd place team. Just useless info that JK plays the best competition in the land.

9/4 Jerry's Kids go 1-2 at Nationals in Indianapolis...nuff said.

8/27-28 Jerry's Kids travel to Rockford for the state title and come up a little short taking 5th out of 80 teams...a disappointment for JK but when all is said and done nothing to be down about...JK played hard going 4-0 Saturday, then losing Sunday to the eventual champion J-Bears Den 10-7 and then falling out of the tournament in 9 innings 11-10 and ending the run 4-2. Full article coming soon as soon as I can get over the loss.

8/8 Jerry's Kids survives scare wins 40th game 15-14. After jumping out to a 13-2 after 2 and a 14-3 lead after 4 innings, JK had to score a 2 out run in the bottom of the 6th and hold on for a close 15-14 win. JK is now 40-16 on the season. JK was lead by the hitting of 3B John Fox who had 4 hits and 3 rbi including the game winner. Gary Thiakos had 4 rbi and 2 hits including a towering grand slam in the 1st inning as Jk scored 9 first inning runs. Aaron Hinchliffe had 3 hits and an rbi, Scott Santerelli, Steve Tubman, Jerry Santerelli, and Jeremy Poch all added 2 hits and an rbi a piece.

8/3 Jerry's Kids continued its hot streak winning 17-7 in 6 innings against a solid Heroes & Legends team. JK improved to 39-16 on the season, 7-4 in the Wednesday night "C" league after starting 0-2 and 1-3, and JK is 21-4 in their last 25 games! JK played well despite missing several key players again. With pitcher Scott Santerelli nursing a knee injury Steve Tubman won his second straight start pitching wonderfully. At the plate Jk was lead by none other than Jason Adams with 3 hits including a homerun, his 6th of the season, and 4 rbi, Aaron Hinchliffe had 4 hits and 4 rbi, Greg Smith had 4 hits and an rbi, Matt Narducci had 3 hits and 3 rbi including a homerun, Fred Gestel had 3 hits, Jeremy Poch had 2 hits and 3 rbi, Tom Grenchik had 3 hits, and John Pecora added 2 hits and rbi. JK must now just keep up their momentum heading into the state tournament.

8/1 After a great showing at the Joliet City Tournament last week, Jerry's Kids was back at it again for league play on Monday night with Steve Tubman taking the managerial duties. Despite injuries and missing key players, JK won 11-4 over McBrides. After a brief retirement, Tommy G was back in action for Jerry's Kids. Taking nothing away from the return of Tommy G, the night belonged to Easy-E and Tubes. Erickson led the offensive charge with 3 hits and 5 rbi's. Tubman had 4 hits, 2 rbi's and pitched a good game walking zero batters and only allowing 4 runs. Hinchliffe, Pecora, Francisco, Poch, and Walker each had 2 hits. There was another surprise for JK on this night, Aaron Hinchliffe took the mound in the 7th to relieve Tubman. With all the heckling Aaron gives the JK pitchers throughout the year it was his turn to take the mound. He walked his first batter then got the next three players to fly out to end the game.

7/30 Jerry's Kids finish 2nd in Joliet City Tournament with a 5-2 record falling twice in the tournament to the champions Road Dawgs.

The first game of the city saw Jk matched up against a good young team in Dekalb. JK jumped up 2-0 and 8-2 before closing the deal 10-4 and advancing in the tournament. Pitcher Scott Santerelli had 2 hits and an rbi, Pat Walker added 2 hits and 2 rbi, Gary Thiakos had a hit and an rbi, John Hopkins, Todd Francisco, Aaron Hinchliffe, Jeremy Poch, and Steve Tubman all had 2 hits in the win.

Game two of the city saw a rematch of what was one of the most exciting games in JK history last season. JK vs. McBrody's went 9 innings last year with JK scoring in the 7th to tie and answering with runs in the 8th and 9th to win the game in dramatic fashion. This season JK did want to go extra innings and put up 7 runs in the 2nd and played even the rest of the way to win 14-7 and advance to the next round. John Hopkins lead Jk with 4 hits and 2 rbi, Gary Thiakos had 3 hits and 3 rbi, Jason Adams had 3 hits and an rbi, Fred Gestel added 2 rbi, Todd Francisco added 3 hits, Ken Affrunti had 4 big hits, Scott Santerelli had 3 hits and 2 rbi, Steve Tubman and Pat Walker had 2 hits each.

The third game of this tournament was no charm as JK fell to the Road Dawgs 8-4. The offense came out on fire scoring 4 runs in the first but the Dawgs held JK in check the rest of the way. Hopkins had 3 hits, Ken Affrunti, Joe Ballantine, Aaron Hinchliffe, and Todd Francisco had 2 hits each.

JK next found itself in the loser's bracket facing Heroes and Legends/Conrads which has finished 2nd in 4 of the last 5 years of this tournament and they had just beaten the Young Guns 23-10. JK would get down early 7-3 but show the heart of a champion and fight back and eventually take a 12-7 lead into the 7th. The dreaded 7th inning has hurt JK throughout the 4 years the club has been in existence and tonight was no different. 3 errors later and JK was tied 12-12 going into the bottom of the 7th. Clutch hitting by Pat Walker, Adam Hutten, and Gary Thiakos lead to the game winning single by Ken Affrunti and JK advancing to the final 4! Jason Adams had 3 hits and an rbi, and Gary Thiakos, John Hopkins, Ken Affrunti, Fred Gestel, Todd Francisco, Jeremy Poch, and Joe Ballantine all chipped in 2 hits.

The final four found JK again with a rematch of last season and Koby's. JK beat them last season in the city 4-2. This season would be a similar style game with JK beating them 4-1 thanks to some stellar defensive plays from Fred Gestel, Pat Walker, and Aaron Hinchliffe. JK managed only 7 hits but pulled out the win thanks in part to Jason Adams 2 hits and 2 run homerun and the good defense shutting down the Koby's team which had beaten a very good Collins Street team 23-3 the night before.

JK is now in the top 3 with a matchup against the Squad who has beaten JK twice already this season. This game would be another JK classic as JK battled all game with the score goign back and forth JK eventually took a commanding lead of 12-7 to the 7th. The 7th inning, remember Jk had the same lead the night before and blew it, this would be no different with some errors and clutch hitting the Squad would tie the game at 12-12 and thanks in part to an amzing play by Gary Thiakos on a fly ball by Mike Mahar with runners on it stayed 12-12 and Squad didn't get the lead! JK would then send Jason Adams to the plate and he would deliver in the bottom of the 7th with a lead off triple off the fence and 2 intentional walks and a sac fly by Todd Francisco later JK is in the championship! Jason Adams had 4 hits and 4 rbi, Ken Affrunti had 3 hits and 2 rbi, Gary Thiakos had 2 hits and an rbi, John Hopkins had 2 hits, Joe Ballantine had 2 hitsm abd Pat Walker had 2 hits.

JK in the championship with a rematch against the Road Dawgs and the result would be no different with the Road Dawgs pulling out the 6-3 win and gaining the title. JK was lead by Fred Gestel with 3 hits and John Hopkins with 2 hits.

With all this said and done it was a tremendous tournament for JK! No one expected JK to be in the championship except the players who believed all along they could get there and even win it. This is JK playing to their potential and hopefully it will carry over to a state championship! For the tournament JK played amazing defense and several teams and umpires complimented JK on their play. JK is now on the map as a top team in Joliet! JK was lead at the plate by John Hopkins with a .680 and 9 rbi, Ken Affrunti hit .650 with 4 rbi, Jason Adams hit .583 with 10 rbi, Joe Ballantine hit .571 with 3 rbi, Steve Tubman hit .556, Gary Thiakos hit .478 with 7 rbi, Todd Francisco hit .435 with 5 rbi, Aaron Hinchliffe hit .421 with 5 rbi, Scott Santerelli hit .400 with 3 rbi, Fred Gestel hit .389 with 8 rbi, Pat Walker hit .368 with 3 rbi, Jeremy Poch hit .333 with 1 rbi, Adam Hutten hit .125, John Pecora had an rbi, Andy Christiansen kept book, and Jerry Santerelli coached us. Also special thanks to the fans for cheering us on the whole way and Jim Brummond for helping coach us on Saturday.

7/29 JK manages to advance to the final 4 of the Joliet City Tournament Men's Competitive Division with wins over solid teams Dekalb and McBrody's and Heroes and Legends/Conrads with a tough 8-4 loss to Road Dawgs, JK is still alive heading into Saturday.

7/13 JK wins 2!
JK won game one of a double header 24-13 against Alfa's and game two 18-16 against Bedinger's Bullpen. JK is now 28-13 on the season after winning a season best 7th straight game.
In game one JK pounded out 28 hits en route to the 24-13 win as JK scored in every inning to hold off the good hitting Alfa's team. JK was lead by John Hopkins and his 3 hits including a homerun, Jason Adams, while nursing a groin injury had 4 hits including a homerun and 3 rbi, Brad Walsh had 2 hits including a homerun and 2 rbi and 4 runs scored, Fred Gestel had 4 hits and 4 rbi, Aaron Hinchliffe had 3 hits and 4 rbi, Jeremy Poch, playing the outfield while recovering from a jaw injury, had 3 hits and 3 rbi, Todd Francisco had 3 hits and an rbi, Adam Hutten had 2 hits and an rbi, Steve Tubman had 2 hits and 2 rbi, and pitcher Scott Santerelli had 2 hits and 3 rbi including his 1st homerun of the season.
In game two of the double header JK was matched up against Bedinger's Bullpen who beat JK 18-8 last week for their only win of the season. JK jumped to a 4-0 lead only to have the Bedinger's score 7 in the 1st and 2 in the 2nd to take a 9-4 lead. Bedinger's then began to whine, complain, and talk smack about not being able to see the ball because JK had hit homeruns and was using a backup ball. This seemed to spark JK becauase there was a different intensity then as JK bats and gloves awoke and outscored them 11-2 over the next couple innings. JK then got 3 more in the 7th to take a 18-11 lead to the bottom of the 7th. Some walks and miscues defensively let Bedinger's think they had a chance but JK held on for a 18-16 win. For the game Gary Thiakos had 3 hits and an rbi, John Hopkins had 2 hits and 3 rbi, Jason Adams had 2 hits and an rbi, Brad Walsh had 3 hits,4rbi and a homerun, Fred Gestel had 2 hits, 2 rbi and a homerun, Aaron Hinchliffe had 2 hits and an rbi, Jeremy Poch had 2 hits and an rbi, Todd Francisco had 2 hits and 2 rbi, Adam Hutten had 3 hits and an rbi, Steve Tubman had a hit an an rbi, and Scott Santerelli added 2 hits and an rbi. JK is not a team that talks trash but teams that do it to them it just makes JK that much better! To spark JK even more it was the fact that this team was talking trash and arguing with Jerry! No one talks trash to Jerry! He is the man that leads JK to battle!

7/11 JK beats the previously undefeated Senators Monday night by a score of 14-2 in 5 innings. JK took advantage of 7 walks from the opposing pitcher and Fred Gestel lead the offensive attack driving in 7 of the 14 runs with 3 hits. Pitcher Scott Santerelli, RC Jeremy Poch, LF Jason Adams, 3B Thad Kreitz, and LC Frank Dragisic all had 2 hits in the close win.

JK never trailed after putting up 7 in the 1st inning as Off-Constantly cut the lead to 1 a couple times Jk put up 3 in the 6th to seal the win. JK was lead by LF Jason Adams 2 hits and 3 rbi, 3B Thad Kreitz 3 hits and 2 rbi, LC Frank Dragisic 2 hits and 2 rbi, C Steve Tubman had 2 hits and 2 rbi, and Hopkins, Losocco, Hutten, and Mike Gunter all added 2 hits to the win.

Game 4 saw JK matched up in the championship against a tired Beavers team wich lost their first game in the morning and to their credit in the 90 degree weather had battled back all the way to the title game. The Beavers struck first with a quick 2 runs in the top of the 1st but JK put up 8 against them in the bottom of the 1st to all but take the wind out of their sails. The Beavers never quit but ended up falling 16-2 in 5 innings in the heat. JK would like to thank all who participated in the tournament this weekend! Good Job Guys!

6/29 In a game as big as they get in the regular season, the matchup found Jerry's Kids against one their top rivals and defending E state champion Young Guns. Jerry's Kids managed to play a great game and come out on top against the rival Young Guns 12-5 ending the Young Guns dreams of an undefeated league record. JK pitcher Scott Santerelli managed to hold the Young Guns scoreless through 2 innings as JK managed 4 runs in the bottom of the 2nd to jump on top 4-0 the big blow being a 2 run homer by Gary Thiakos with 2 outs. The Young Guns added 1 run in the 3rd to get on the board but JK quickly answered back with 2 runs on rbi's by Brad Walsh and Steve Tubman. The Young Guns woke up in the top of the 4th scoring 4 runs cutting the lead to 6-5 but that would be the last JK would hear from them as they did not score the rest of the game. JK would add 3 in the 5th and 3 in the 6th to put them away by the final of 12-5. Brad Walsh was 4-4 with a homerun and 3 rbi, Fred Gestel was 2-4 with a homerun and 2 rbi, Gary Thiakos was 2-4 with a homerun and 2 rbi, John Hopkins was 3-4 with 2 doubles and a homerun and 2 rbi, Pat Walker and Steve Tubman each had an rbi and a single.
