WELCOME TO THE HOME OF THE

M.A.J.O.R. YOUTH BASEBALL LEAGUE

“Anything else is like the minor leagues”

We are SE Wisconsin’s fastest growing youth baseball league

The Milwaukee Area Junior Open Residency League (M.A.J.O.R. Youth Baseball League) is entering its 7th season.  Our league was created to advance the caliber of youth baseball in SE Wisconsin.  Our league was the first league in SE Wisconsin to play “Real Baseball” at the U11 level, others followed.  We currently are the only league in Wisconsin playing “Real Baseball” at the U10 level, we hope others follow.

We offer leagues for ages U9-U14 and we have no residency requirements.  Our format does not penalize teams from smaller communities by giving teams from larger communities a competitive advantage, based on the size of their population base.

We believe regardless which High School our players will be attending, playing competitive games week in and week out will better prepare our players for High School and beyond, when compared to other league’s formats.  Youth players that are not challenged regularly may not develop the necessary skills to thrive in High School and beyond.  Our format provides top-of-the-line competition, most every game.  As a result, our teams generally excel in tournament play against non-league teams and our former players are some of the better performers at area High Schools each year.

We will continue to lead the way for youth baseball in SE Wisconsin.  You can support our efforts by joining our league for the upcoming season.

Our 14-18 game regular season schedule, allows teams that enjoy playing regularly in weekend tournaments the opportunity to play against solid competition during the week, without forfeiting much needed practice time. With a regular season stretching over 12-13 weeks, teams do not play more than one game a week, most weeks. Our flexible scheduling policy allows coaches to arrange their own schedule, further avoiding conflicts.

If you have any questions, or would like to discuss anything, please contact Shawn Kramlich via email at: Shawn@majorybl.org or via telephone at 262-442-6509.  If you are ready to register, please click on the HANDOUTS section, there you will find our registration form.

Parents, we do not place players on teams.  You must contact a league team in your area at your age level and request a tryout.  Contact info for all league teams can be found on the left-hand side of this page under "Contacts".

Here are what a few coaches and umpires have had to say about our league:

“I think what I liked best about the M.A.J.O.R. youth baseball league was that rules aren't watered down for the kids. I feel it makes it easier on the umpires as well as prepares the kids better for the future. Also, I wanted to say that I appreciated the high quality level of play from the players and coaches who knew what they were talking about and knew how to handle situations with class. It's somewhat hard to explain, but there are somewhat unwritten rules within baseball about how interactions between the umpire and coaches should go and I think the coaches in the M.A.J.O.R. league understood that for the most part.”

Joe Hoff
WIAA Umpire

"We enjoyed the MAJOR Youth Baseball League and looked forward to playing each and every week. The top 7 teams presented challenges and we thought the kids really benefited from some close and highly competitive play."

Tom Jewell
Head Coach
2007 U14 Muskego Warriors

“The M.A.J.O.R. Youth Baseball League gave our boys a chance to play on nice ball diamonds with quality umpires and against a very high level of competition week in and week out. The result was evident in our improvement in weekend tournaments throughout the summer! Our team even went to a weeklong tournament in Delaware and was very competitive, playing in the consolation championship game. Playing a competitive league schedule like this, challenged our boys to focus on the finer aspects of baseball (i.e.: situational hitting, mixing up pitches, pick-off moves, secondary leads on base, etc.) in order to win games, instead of just showing up and going through the motions!”

Don Brandner
Head Coach
2007 U14 Richfield Cobras

“The M.A.J.O.R. Youth Baseball League is by far the best league in Southeast Wisconsin. The talent by the kids in this league is tremendous. All aspects of the game are great. The coaching is great also. The coaches know the game and it rubs off onto the kids. I recommend this league to teams that want their kids to learn how to play the right way and get better as they grow.”

Vince Diplaris
WIAA Umpire

“This past season was my first experience with the M.A.J.O.R. Youth Baseball League. I was very impressed. The scheduling was done very well, things weren't changed several times. I never had a problem with any coaches, parents or players, and I saw some very well played games of baseball.”

Jerry Zurawski
NASO, WUA, RLOA Umpire

“Because of other leagues I was umpiring in, I could only fit in a few games in during the 2007 season. Next year, I will do most of my games in the M.A.J.O.R. Youth Baseball League, because of the quality and professionalism of the coaches and players”

Steve Diplaris
Umpire
