The Tomahawk East League anual meeting was held Sunday January 31st. Several topics were discussed but most importantly what to do with Hanska who has been moved up to Class B by the state board. Meeting minutes are posted below.
Excuse me if my writing has deteriorated, I haven’t been in school for almost two years now and I still don’t have a full-time job in my field. So all you young ones in college, good luck finding a job. However, if I can’t find a job soon, I plan on going back to school to pursue my counseling degree or go into drug and alcohol studies. I’ve been trying to make a second career out of playing pool but so far it hasn’t been as successful as planned. This year has been quite exciting. Bri and I bought a house…oh the joys of shoveling snow, trying to fix a leaky sink, and the very long honey-do list that no matter how much I do, keeps getting longer. We also have a dog that doesn’t listen when she’s outside so you might see her this summer, running around McGowan field. After 5 long years, I finally proposed to Bri. Our wedding will be on September 25th, 2010, so we won’t have to miss any games so no excuses, you better be there. For now, I’m anxiously waiting to start getting into baseball form and to have our best upcoming season yet.
Hola from Peru! I am currently in the country of Peru (South America), taking a January class from St. Thomas. Our group of 26 is here from Jan 2 to Jan 24. The best thing about Peru is how warm it is here! I know its probably -10 in Minnesota right now, which is a far cry from the 80 degree weather we have here. But with the heat comes a price, I have been sun burnt for the lasted 3 days. It is the worst burn I have had my entire life. I am finally starting to peel now on my face, so the pain is subsiding.
This is Shane taking the initiative to write the first blog of the season. Since baseball finished I have completed another semester at Winona State and look forward to graduating in May with a double major in Human Resources Management and Business Administration with a Training and Development minor. What am I going to do when I graduate? If you find out, let me know I would be happy to know. I signed another year on our lease in Winona and hope to go full time with Fastenal—there is a lot of opportunities within the company. In September I turned 21 and I found out real quick that $3 drinks uptown gets to be a lot more expensive than $.30 beers at home. Our entire family, parents, brother, sisters, and spouses are going to Vegas in March since we are all old enough so I am looking forward to that trip!! I really enjoyed being back in Gibbon for three weeks over Christmas break—there is no experience like playing sheephead with Toad and Cono!!
The annual Tomahawk East League Meeting is just a few short weeks away (January 31st). From that date on it seems the season is just around the corner. Several weeks later is the scheduling meeting followed by the fist day rosters can be changed (March 15th). Next is the annual steak fry, our first practice, and then finally our first game (probably May 9th). So as the temparture drops during these cold January days keep in mind that the baseball calendar is about to heat up.
