The CRHS Golf Banquet was a big success on May 20th at The Golf Club at Cinco Ranch. An Italian buffet was served and no one left hungry. The coaches were pretty much able to hold back the tears and were very appreciative of the kind sincere words of the senior Captains Kyle Westmoreland, Micah Hill, Caroline Wood and Alyssa Pantle. They were especially touched by their motivational words to the underclassmen to carry on our rich tradition and make it to the state tournament next year. Their overwhelming theme was: "We are a true TEAM in an individual sport that separates us from most of the other golf programs. We take care of one another and will always be there to pick each other up." The greatest joy of a coach is to see our past freshmen all grown up and mature as young adult seniors. The boys celebrated their 5 tournament victories and their 2 runner-ups. We believe that this is a school record for championships in a year. The girls also had a great year with with 7 trophies won with a group that has 5 returning players for next year. Thank you so much for the seniors who have been such great role models throughout the year. Your impact and legacy will last on our program for years to come. Your leadership was the key to our success this season. THE AWARD WINNERS WERE: Boys MVP's Seniors Kyle Westmoreland & Micah Hill; Girls MVP Sophomore Abby Newton; Boys Fighting Heart Junior Scott Newell; Girls Fighting Heart Senior Caroline Wood; Boys Sportsmanship Craig Johnson; Girls Sportsmanship Senior MelissaBerger & Sophomore Megan Webster; Boys Most Improved Junior Jake Leatherwood; Girls Most Improved Sophomore Kirsten Hensley & Senior Sarah Herbert; Boys Academic Senior Eric Rosenfeld; Girls Academic Melissa Berger. Monday and Tuesday the CRHS Varsity Boys & Girls had a great time meeting with the Cinco Jr. High Coyotes and the Beck Jr. High Bulldogs at two very successful clinics/practices at the Cinco Ranch Golf Club driving range. It was a great joy to us coaches to watch our students become the teachers and welcome to the family the future of Cougar Golf. Each varsity member took under their wing a junior high golfer and taught them the basics of the short game and full swing. Many of the high school Cougars remarked on their ability to swing, take instruction and were impressed with their passion for the game.Pictures will be coming soon to this website from this event. We wish the Coyotes and Bulldogs the best of luck this next Monday and Tuesday at their district golf tournaments. Our varsity golfers will be in attendance helping with the tournament and rooting them all on. Thank you to all of the players for their time and efforts in building our future program and family. Coach Autrey and Coach Radke do a tremendous job of coaching our future Cougars and promoting junior golf. We at the high school appreciate their hard work. In addition, the high school kids had a great time seeing them again and remembering their junior high golf days.

The Cougar Boy & Girl teams both won 5th place at the Region III-5A Golf Tournament at Eagle Point GC on April 19-22. Both teams were disappointed at not reaching their goal of making it to the State Tournament, but the Cougar teams had a very successful year with a lot of tournament trophies won for 2009-2010. The Cougars are hungry for next year. We will sure miss our seniors, yet we are also excited about the amount of talent coming back for next year. This year's A-team seniors were our leaders who set the bar high with their desire for a Regional & State Championship: Kyle Westmoreland & Micah Hill; Caroline Wood, Alyssa Pantle & Kristen Lauritano. We also thank our other seniors who have meant a lot to our program and who have played top 5 at different times: Craig Johnson, Eric Rosenfeld, Jake Hartill, Melissa Berger & Sarah Herbert.

Micah Hill signed with Sam Houston State University and Kyle Westmoreland signed with the Air Force Academy. These young men have worked extremely hard at their golf games through their high school career and have been very dedicated to this goal. We in the Cinco Ranch Community are all very proud of them. Coach Nordstrom and Coach Stone are very blessed to have coached these competitive athletes and they have meant a lot to the program over the course of their four years on the varsity team. Our Cougar Varsity Boys had a tough time at Concan CC on the Frio River by not shooting our regular scores and coming in 5th place. We had a great time and really bonded as a team which will pay off in the long run. The top seven boys made the trip and got a chance to stay in cabins on the river and play a terrific golf course. The course and the wind were both very tough on the field which included teams from all over Texas. The Cougars' top player Kyle Westmoreland had to withdraw with an injury, so the Cougars played one man short of the competition.
