The Maple Ridge Jerks are your 2011 LMBA League Champions. After battling their way through the 2011 season the Jerks beat the odds and claimed their first piece of hardware in franchise history. The Jerks overcame a mid season slump and finished the season in style, closing out with 8 straight wins, 4 of them coming as they carved their way through the playoffs en route to the finals where they faced off against their inter-league rivals the Delta Dodgers.

The Dodgers came into the finals looking to put the pain of back to back finals losses in their rear view mirror, while the Jerks were looking to capitalize on their first trip to the big dance. The Jerks came out firing early and put on a laser show in the first inning putting up a 6 spot on the Dodgers starting pitcher, who was bailed out by the 6 run limit, as the Jerks were still threatening when the onslaught was halted. Jerks starter Rob Gauthier had one of his strongest outings of the year, earning the win by going 5 strong shutout innings, mixed speeds effectively and baffling the Dodgers hitters. In contrast to Gauthier the starter for the Dodgers lasted just 2 innings, leaving with his team trailing by 6 runs, but if you were to gage results by his smack talk you'd think he was up 16 when he was given the hook.

Although the Jerks failed to push anymore runs across the board for the remainer of the game, they threatened nearly every inning and only strong performances from the Dodgers releivers kept the deficit at 6.

The strong start by Gauthier was mirrored by Dicky Kimber, who came out of the bullpen in the 6th and picked up where Gauthier started, closing out the final 4 innings while keeping the Dodgers potent offence at bay.

The Jerks rushed the field once the final out was recorded and celebrated in style, in a way only the Jerks can do. When asked for a comment postgame Jerks manager Matty MacLean was elated, "We had a mission at the start of the season and its good to see all our hard work and practice beers and pub nights pay off, this is going to be one epic celebration."After a few celebratory pops at the field, the Jerks moved the party to a local establishment where the beer was flowing like wine and the plaques were christened in the parking lot in a Jerks version of a beer waterfall. Once everyone had their buzz on the Jerks moved on to Roosters where they celebrated in style, owning the dance floor, and dressing the band in Jerks apparel. Below is the proof of what kind of night it was when a mensa member who plays for the Jerks who shall not be named, LUKIE, decided to engrave the plaque a little prematurely.

The Jerks closed out the season in style and wish to thank their multitude of fans for the support shown to them all year, but especially during the playoff run.
