Claire Thompson finished 23rd at the 5A State Tournament in Austin playing at Onion Creek Country Club. She shot a frist round 76. She did an outstanding job representing Seven Lakes, Region III, and the 19-5A District. Great job Claire.

 

Senior Claire Thompson qualified for the state tournament as a medalist shooting 77 on the rain shortened girls regional. She placed tied for 3rd overall in the Region. She will be returning to the state tournament for the second time. She was a member of the 2010 team that placed 5th.

 

 

The boys’ team took 4th in the region shooting a total of 619. Led by Matt Sullivan and Cole Smith the boys played good but fell a few strokes short state contention. With all of the team returning next year and with the youth that is behind them our ticket to state will be punched next year! Other members were Zach Tracy, Chase Ambrose and Robert Beautz.

The Varsity competed in the 19-5A tournament at River Ridge the last two days. The girls finished in 4th place shooting 333-332 just 2 strokes out of 2nd place. They were led by Claire Thompson (who qualified for regionals as a medalist) shooting 80-78. Susan Hagger 86-84, Ashley Hummel 83-83, Jenny Parisi 84-87, and Brooke Garrison 91-89. The 2nd team finished 5th led by Megan Reyes, Katie LaBreche, Courtney Lovett, Amanda Myers, and Marly Adams. Medalist were Elisa Wells, Alex Wold and Celina Gimang.

 

The boys finished 2nd shoot 301-306. Led by Matt Sullivan’s 77-71 the Spartan’s are going back to the regional tournament after a 3 year absence. Cole Smith shot 77-78, Zach Tracy shot 71-82, Chase Ambrose shot 76-78 and Robert Beautz 83-78. The 2nd team finished in 5th place led by Ben Yoo, Noah Purvis, Hunter Hedges, Dustin Williamson, and Jose Latorre. Medalist Christian Graves got a HOLE IN ONE on hole #4 the second day – 174 yard par 3. Other medalist were Corbin Archer and Corbin Hixson

Varsity Boys - They placed in the top 5 at Kingwood Spring Invitational at Oakhurst Golf Club. Chase Ambrose led the way shooting 75-75. Team shot 303-307 for the best team scores in 3 years. This is a great way to lead us towards a return to the regional tournament. District tournament is April 3-4 at River Ridge.

JV District Tournament - The JV Boys took 1st place at the JV District Tournament held at Cinco Ranch Golf Course. Andrew Yoo shot 75 to win the tournament. The JV Girls took 3rd place.

Boys Varisty Team - Competed in the NISD Concan Invitational at The Club of Concan. The boys placed 8 out of 24 teams. Tough course conditions brought the scores up for all teams. Jose Latorre lead the way for the Spartan shooting a 79 the second day of 10 golfers to break the 80 mark for the weekend. Boys will be back on the course March 23-24 at Oakhurst.

Spartan Varstiy Teams - The Seven Lakes Spartan Boys 2nd Varsity team won the Katy Winter Classic at Falcon Point beating Memorial by 2 strokes. Freshman Chase Ambrose shot a second day 78 to help lead the comeback victory. Dustin Williamson 81, Hunter Hedges 86, Noah Purvis 85, and Christian Graves 90 also contributed to the victory. The first day the Spartans struggled with the final 3 holes but day two they finished strong with Chase going -1 on those holes. This is great momentum going into the Spring semester for the Spartans.

The Seven Lakes Spartan Girls Varsity team took 3rd place in the Ft Bend Austin Greatwood Invitational. Susan Hagger led the way for the Spartans who had a great 2nd day. Windy conditions on Monday proved to be tough for the girls but the calmer winds on Tuesday allowed the girls to shine and take home the 3rd place finish. Jenny Parisi, Ashley Hummel, Brooke Garrison, and Megan Reyes played great the second day to help secure the medal.

 

Welcome Back - The spring semester is here and tournament season will be here in less than 2 weeks. Please encourage your golfer to plan ahead for tournaments. They need to keep up with school work more than ever in the spring. River Ridge Roll meetings will start next week, time and place will be sent out via email. Varsity practice will start Monday January 9th; JV practice will start Wednesday January 18th.

 The Boys Varsity - The Varsity boys played in the Dick Harmmon Memorial Tournament at Redstone Golf Club Monday December 5th. The boys played great in the cold damp weather. Zach Tracy led the way shooting 116 over 27 holes. Matt Sullivan was right behind shooting 118. Cole Smith, Ben Yoo, and Robert Beautz played awesome also helping the Spartans to a 2nd place finish 4 strokes behind St Thomas HS. The 315 score lead after 18 holes then fell short in the final nine holes. Great job by these boys under the conditions.

Boys/Girls Varstiy - The Spartan's played in the Region III Fall Preview at Eagle Point November 18-19. The Spartan Girls finished 3rd lead by Susan Hagger who finished in the top 7 in scoring. The Boys finished in 10th.

JV Boys/Girls - The Spartan's dominated the Katy High Fall Classic at Weston Lakes Monday November 7th. Girls took 1st Place and the boys took 2nd and 3rd. Tri Nguyen shot 78 to lead the Spartan boys. Great Job

Varsity Boys - The 2nd varsity boys took 3rd place at the Brazoswood "Sausage Open" Varsity tournament on October 31st. Matt Sullivan shot 80 and Corbin Hixson shot 81.

JV Boys - The JV Boys team took 1st in both division of the Brazoswood "Sausage Open" JV tournament on October 27th. Andrew Yoo shot 75, and Frank Zavala shot 78 to lead the way.

Var/JV Girls - The 2nd Varsity girls and JV girls competed at Greatwood on October 24th. Alex Wold won the JV division shooting 44. Amamda Myers took 2nd in the varsity division shooting 91.

JV Boys and Girls - The JV boys and girls played in windy conditions on Tuesday October 18th. The boys finished in 3rd place while the girls outlasted Kingwood for a 2nd place finish. Tough conditions made it difficult for the entire field. The girls are back in action on Monday October 24th and the boys on Thursday October 27th. Great Job!!!

Varsity Boys and Girls - The Varsity Boys and Girls competed at River Ridge Golf Club. Both A teams finished in 3rd place. It was a tough two days of golf. All teams played well with room for improvement from tee to green. With a new young team the boys teams were noticed that Seven Lakes is deeper with talent than it has been over the past few years. Boys A team shot 314 - 316, B team shot 320 - 323. The Girls A team shot 350-338, B team shot 396 - 376. Great job by all that competed.

JV Boys - The JV boys went to Navasota on Thursday September 29th and took 2nd place. Frank Zavala shot 76 (T-3rd), Fraser Dey shot 80, Andrew Yoo shot 83, Cole Baker shot 84, and Tri Nguyen shot 88. The 2nd team was highlighted by Ben Brattain's 83, followed by Tristain Burr's 88, Preston Ng 90, Cory Davis 99, and Michael Harris 104. Great job for our first tournament. Their next tournament is October 18th at Meadowbrook Farms.
