Countdown to STATE TOURNAMENT
(Jul 20/07)

Welcome to the 2007 Lee 9 Year Old All-Stars Home Page. STATE TOURNY...HERE WE COME (see notes below)!!!! District Stats to be posted this week FOR PICS, CLICK ON THE "LINKS" BUTTON FOR A LINK TO OUR TEAM PHOTOS...257 pics as of 7/16! Well we've had a few practices and a scrimmage vs Lenox...We have some work ahead of us, but I'm sure we will do great! The kids are enthusiastic (hyper?!?) and full of energy. If we can harness that into some focus we will be just fine. ~ Coach Dave 6/24 - Scrimmage vs. Lenox - We tried a few things that you probably won't see during the District tournament, but it gave the coaches some good insight. Hopefully it will also give the kids a little idea of what is to come (this isn't like the "regular season"). Nice hitting done by Riley (3 for 3), along with Nick R., Luke, and Nevin w/ two hits each. Also, our 4 "starting" pitchers only let up 4 runs over 4.7 innings...Good Job guys! 7/5 - The night began ackwardly as our own parents chipped in to make the field playable. Noah Johnson was hurt in the first inning and, after staying in long enough for a 2 RBI single, eventually had to be carried off by Mr. Finnegan for a trip to the emergency room with a sprained ankle. Both pitchers, Luke & Devyn, were nearly perfect for each of their first 2 innings of work. Luke pitched 3 innings and gave up a total of 6 runs, 5 of which came in the 3rd inning and Devyn pitched 4 innings and gave up 5 total runs (2 in the 6th & 3 in the 7th). Luke walked 3 batters and struck out 2. Devyn walked 5 batters and struck out 10. After an up and down night by the team, they toughed it out with 4 runs in the bottom of the 7th to win 12-11 on a stolen base at home by Noah Hunter and turn Devyn from the losing pitcher to the winning pitcher. All players played at least 3 innings in the field and were able to have a chance to hit against Lenox's good pitching. Brodie saved the day with a solid game at first base after Noah J. went down while also going 2-3 with 2 runs scored. Nevin played nearly the entire game at catcher before being injured on a foul ball! In addition to his pitching performance, Luke was 3 for 4 with 3 runs scored. Nick W. had 2 solid hits (1 double) and started our 5 run rally in the 3rd inning. Devyn was 4 for 4 with 3 runs scored. Noah H was 2 for 3 with the game winning run scored set up by Nathan's solid at bat with 2 outs in the 7th. Patrick had a sacrifice bunt which moved the game tying run (Nick R) to third base in the bottom of the 7th. Riley, Will, and David - although struggling to catch up to Lenox's pitching, had some very good at bats and continue to show great progress in their new outfield positions. Much was learned by both the coaching staff and players! Keep up the great work on Saturday! District 1 Tourny: 7/7 vs. Williamstown - Although playing Williamstown tough for 6 innings, Lee was shutout 9-0. Luke collected the game ball from the official scorer. Luke went 2-3 with a stolen base and 2 solid innings of pitching. Lee was only able to manage four hits and two walks for the game off of the 2 Williamstown pitchers. Nick W. and Noah J. had the two other hits for Lee. Noah J. and Nick W. also pitched very well during this game. Lee’s fielding was solid from start to finish. 7/8 vs. Lenox - Lee Wins and advances to the championship game by a score of 8-5! Two great games against Lenox! Luke collects another game ball from the official scorer after pitching 2 solid innings and going 4-4 with 1 run scored and a stolen base. Noah J. was 2-3 with 2 key RBI in Lee’s 5 run second inning. Devyn pitched the final 4 innings, giving up 2 runs with 7 strikeouts. Nevin played another great game at catcher and also scored 2 runs (4 stolen bases). Nck R. made a great running grab in left field to end an inning and save at least a run from scoring. Brodie also scored two runs, with Noah H., Nick R, and Nathan also scoring 1 run each. 7/9 vs. Williamstown - The boys ran out of gas on a hot July day! Lee hung around with Williamstown until finally being overcome by the heat and injuries in the 5th inning and falling short 14-4. Riley and Noah J. both came out of the game in the 4th after being stepped on accidentally by Williamstown players (Yes, the same foot Noah hurt on Thursday night, OUCH!!). Once again, Lee’s offense was only able to muster 3 hits and 7 walks off the Williamstown pitchers. Noah H. went 2-3 with 1 run scored and 2 stolen bases. Game ball from the official scorer went to Devyn who went 1-1 with 2 walks, 9 stolen bases, and 3 runs scored. Devyn also pitched 2 innings. Nevin backed up his great catching with 2 solid innings pitching to start the game. GOOD LUCK IN THE STATE TOURNY!!! Updates coming soon!
