Planning on playing Soccer in College? There is a college team somewhere for everyone who wants to play college soccer – you just have to find that school or schools. Also, you should be comfortable at the school of choice even if soccer suddenly is no longer in the picture.

Most players/parents need to make the necessary first contact in order to get recruited. This can be an exciting time for you and your child. Choosing a college to attend is a big decision and adding in athletics means it is an even more complicated decision. Enjoy the ride! See College Recruiting link courtesy of Sandhills Soccer Club below. Remember- you should start this process as early as possible.

The Varsity Team consisted of eight seniors, four juniors, one sophomore and five freshmen.  Four other underclassmen from the JV Team saw varsity action throughout the season.

The offense was inconsistent but versatile.  The team scored eight more goals and had 11 more assists than last season. Although the defense was solid they gave up 10 more goals than last season.  The team dealt with numerous injuries throughout the season.

The eight seniors:  Creedmore, Mathias, Maxwell, McDermid, Ramey, Rodriguez, Shank and Williams will be greatly missed.  It should also be noted that Junior Van Dyke will be graduating early.

Where do we go from here?

Britt finished second in conference.  Britt consistently started five seniors,   two juniors, one sophomore and three freshmen throughout the 2011 season.  The JV team was very competitive and finished with a 13-3 overall record.  The 2012 tryouts will be very competitive.

There is a huge difference between the skill level of club players and non club players.  This difference was evident with several of the young Britt players who play club ball compared to those who don’t.

Bottom line- the more touches you get on the ball and practice during the off season (club ball or not), you will develop into a better player.

2012 concerns/needs: an established Goalkeeper and a physical presence on defense and at the mid-field.

2012 Strengths:  team speed with strong sophomore class.

If you would like to get a head start on your competition for the 2012 season you may want to focus on the following:

·  Playing soccer during the High School off season.

·  Attend summer soccer camps.

·  Play other sports and run during the off season to stay active.

·  Show-up to the 2012 Jack Britt tryouts dedicated to the team and IN SHAPE.

If you have any questions pertaining to any soccer related topics please don’t hesitate to email us.
