FALCONS SOAR WITH 2 MORE WEEKEND WINS!!!!

Saturday's game saw Falcons win 5-3 over Victoria-Lindenwoods!! Sunday morning the Falcons came out strong! They only allowed Richmond Kings 9 shots on Wellsey to give the team another shutout win. The final score was 8 to 0. Great team playing!

WELLSEY CHALKS UP ANOTHER SHUTOUT IN SECOND HALF OPENER!

FALCONS start the second half of the season with a 5-0 win! Congratulations team!!

FALCONS WIN THE CHRISTMAS CHALLENGE!!!

What a battle it was!! Congratulations team!! Every line, every skater, gave it their all to hand Selkirk their first loss in 34 games!! And it wouldn't have happened without Wellsey in net!! Amazing..........he was simply AMAZING!!

Backchecking and forechecking by all players made for an exciting game.
Zero...zero after 2 1/2 periods. Selkirk goes up 1 nothing. The Falcons don't give up. The ref calls a penalty. We are shorthanded. "Johnny" goes in for the kill and ties it up! Ben makes some HUGE saves to keep the game tied. (Ben I heard something about another present for you...........check with your mom, k!) It goes into overtime!

Keaner, Dylan, and Brett J are out for the first overtime period. They are absolutely exhausted when the game remains tied after 2 minutes of play. They worked so hard! Great goaltending on both ends of the ice kept both teams in the game.

Now it's Reido and Brett S's turn. On a textbook 2 on 1 play........Brett passes to Reid who waits for the defense to commit and he shoots and in the puck goes!!!!!!! The FALCONS WIN!

Great defense by Zach, Brett J, Ben O, and Max S.

Great offense by Dylan, Geordie, Stephie, Quentin, Reid, Peppy, Reggie, and Brett S.

STANDING TALL IN THE NET..........Wellsey!!

Muchly missed were Austin and Nick!

Twas the weeks before Christmas, when all through the ice,
The Falcons were skating with all of their might.

The pucks were flying all through the air,
In hopes that soon the goals will be there.

The players were skating, their faces were red,
While visions of no penalties danced in their heads.

The team in their black and blue helmuts and Q in his white,
Had just gotten ready for a heck of a fight.

When out on the ice there arose such a clatter,
The parents sprang to their feet to see what was the matter.

(more to follow shortly)

THIS WINNING GAME HAD A LITTLE BIT OF EVERYTHING IN IT!

The boys didn't know which uniforms to put on, so they decided to start the game in their pajamas. But once Coach Keane clarified that they indeed were there to play hockey.........the boys were on fire, scoring 9 goals this game!! Great weekend of games for the team.

A 3-3 TIE!

Dakota may have towered over the Falcons, but they didn't outplay us! Another team effort showed our opponents just how big we are.

COACH KEANE'S CORNER

Hi Falcons and Falcon Families,

First of all, much thanks to the Ferguson's who have spear-headed this initiative of having the Varsity View 10A1 website.

I was asked to contribute to our website with "Coaches Comments" on a weekly basis, and thought it would be a good idea to review our team's start to the beginning of the season.

In discussing the team's start with Coach Brent and Coach Dale, we all feel that everyone is working hard and working at understanding the team systems. One important note about our Team System's is that we need to continually work on our Individual technical skills such as skating, passing/receiving shooting and checking for our team systems to be successful. For example, it doesn't matter how much work we do on our breakout routes if we can't pass the puck consistently tape to tape to each other. I have been using the term "Paying Attention to Detail" a lot lately, and will continue to do so, focused on reminders of executing small mechanical techniques about a given individual technical skill properly.

So, when we work on our Individual technical skills in practice, let's make sure we concentrate on using each hour of practice ice as an opportunity to improve our individual technical skills. As our individual technical skills improve, our team tactics (i.e. 2 on 1's, 3 on 2's etc) and team systems ( forechecking, defensive zone coverage, P.K., P.P. etc.) will improve quickly as well.

The Coaches want to remind everyone of the need to keep up a good work ethic, good citizenship and good discipline every time the group gets together (practices and games). If there are any concerns in any of these areas, we will discuss it with the players first, and then the families to assist in resolving any concerns.

Quote of the week: "It's not doing the drill that's important, it's executing the drill properly every time that's important."

by Vince Lombardi, Former Head Coach Green Bay Packers, 3 time Super Bowl Champion

I am really enjoying the start to the season. Let's all have fun, and see you at the rink.

Coach Billy
